The comparison would seem to be, as you mentioned, because they are both white and can shoot. But the actual comparison was simple. Size to shooting ablitilty, that's it. None of the other intangibles that you pointed out. So, back to size and shooting ability, when asked if that performance was stuff of Larry Legend, Magic Johnson said "YES". Where it took off from there who knows. As for the comparison of the 80's and 90's compared to today, like you said, there is none. What I will say about that is, The Mavericks don't need their players to come off the bench and fight, they have Mark Cuban for that.
