They why is it that sales, tax revenue, and visitorship to Seattle continues to decline year after year since 2008. You can't blame the economy this year in particular as things within King County are basically booming again - yet sales and meal tax collection in SEATTLE itself is down, number of cars coming into the city is down, visitors are down. Now how all the, ehem, "helps" business is beyond me. Here is the point you're missing. I have no issue with parking turn - that makes good business sense. But two hours on a sunny Sunday afternoon, you might spend more than that time trying to get lunch at Red Robin on the waterfront. Oh, you got a ticket. The average person isn't going to chance it - they just aren't going to go at all. If they had given a four hour limit, the complaints get a bit more hollow. Four hours definitely covers an IMAX movie, a boat tour, visiting the aquarium, or having a meal and some shopping. THAT would help turn. Two hours - just hurts water front business.

Anarchists is a passive movement, which shows the folly of the political idea out of the gate. I wish I could agree with you - but I can't. In Seattle Occupy is dead. Dead, dead, dead, dead, DEAD. Last fall the black bloc anarchists, Communists and hardcore socialists ran off more moderate thinkers through intimidation, insults, and nullification. What was left was the commune disaster up on Broadway. My last visit to that encampment was right before the college made the emergency request to remove the camp - and I could see perfectly well why. With the moderates gone, the anarchists, socialists, and Communists embraced the homeless, drug addicted, alcoholic, mentally ill, and street youth because, "Occupy is all inclusive," What started out as a political movement against corporate corruption and greed (which I think a lot of people DO agree with) turned into a commune and attempt to minister to the fringes of society. A noble cause - do not take this wrong, a very noble cause. But a tent encampment, in Seattle, in November, in unsanitary conditions, is no place to try to minster to the severely mentally ill, terminally homeless, drug addicted and alcoholics - mixed in with angry, don't want to follow the rules, mom and dad don't love me street youth. The rest is history. But with all that said, what is left of "Occupy" as they identify themselves in Seattle today is black bloc anarchists, socialists and Communists, and darn it, it was "Occupy" that broke those windows like cowards. Occupy failed - and the bankers are laughing, and the Tea Party has targeted the wrong enemy. In the end those of us in the middle - well - we're screwed.

They had them, we actually have a boot camp here in Washington. However in Washington, like everything else, it is set up to game the system. Kids have to be accepted into the system and only those who will likely succeed, are accepted. The kid has to volunteer to go, to want to go, can't be made to go. If they don't follow the rules they are kicked out. It's run by the National Guard and has a very limited number of beds. Other states did boot camp programs and it largely became a disaster. Too many cases of kids that were pushed to hard, even killed during PT or had medical crisises ignored that resulted in disability and/or death. I'm all for tough love, I'm all for a tough system - but I'm not for a system where you can get some wanna be drill instructor on a power trip and run a 14 year old literally to death. The answer is somewhere between.

He's only facing local charges - for now - federal charges will come next. The destruction of a mailbox is a felony, but its the mail theft that will be the bigger issue for federal prosecutors. The weird thing is he just kept going, which makes me think he wanted to get caught - or he is really stupid.

No, the King County prosecutors office will give him a stern warning. The jail he's in before he posts bail will give him the hot bowl of soup. There is no justice in King County, and unless this guy has a rap sheet a mile long, he's going to walk right out of the jail with the pat on the head from a commissioner. I never said I'm pro crime - but thanks for twisting my words. The criminal charge is appropriate, and I wouldn't be whining on TV about it.

You can come on in if I am a blittering idiot and left my doors wide open and unlocked - yes feel free to roam around half naked, take a pair of socks and a bottled water. Bottled water in the second fridge, I made some nice tuna salad on Thursday, that's in the kitchen fridge. But again only if my doors are unlocked and open. Oh wait, when I'm home at night - you won't find my doors open and unlocked. So if I catch you wandering around my house I guess that means you picked or broke the lock, and then entered - which means you're going to be dead when I see you. See, unlike the rest of America, I don't blame others for my own stupidity. If I leave my doors unlocked and opened to the world (he had both garage doors open - who the Hell does that this day and age???) then I get what I deserve. But unlike this guy, I'll take the personal accountability.
