I agree with some points of this post, but most are way too far! First of all, we are not like active duty or reserve, and don't try to make the auxiliary into something it shouldn't be. We are volunteers, and if people wanted to join active duty and reserve, then they would. The auxiliary is there for a reason! It really makes me angry when I hear that people in the auxiliary are thinking they are to be treated just like active duty or reserve. I am a new auxiliary applicant, but I already know how I feel about these things. Yes we should be respected, but we are not the same and if you start treating active duty people like us and vice versa, then why even have an auxiliarist? It should be a place where people that want to serve their country but have other comitments or disabilities can. And never put down another auxiliary such as CAP! I just talked to the writer of this post recently and he called CAP fake. I am a 2lt in CAP and we are just as real as the Coast Guard Aux. You think saving lives is fake? Or teaching Cadets military values and skills is fake? It really leaves a bad taste for the auxiliary for me when I read this post.
