Aussie-Gamer.com : Dead or Alive: Dimensions Does Not Contain Child Porn

I laughed at the Cassie White story, too - especially for the fact that she used an image with Ripley's head photoshopped onto one of the DOA characters. Probably found it in Google image search. The original article by the SMH used Wikipedia as a resource (when he was talking about the guy who got arrested for Simpsons characters) - he even updated the Wikipedia Dead or Alive page with a link to his article. I guess they get paid based on page views. In any case, here's some more info in our second article: http://aussie-gamer.com/?p=10858

I, for one, love flight sims. I don't really know why... but it just cool flying around, dropping bombs and trying to stall the plane at dizzying heights.

Erm - according to Google Translate it's either a suicide note, a Russian Oprah or a Russian troll who lost a testicle in kindergarten. ... ... Intriguing.

Aussie-Gamer.com : Rumor Mill: Heavenly Xbox Shops with PayPal. Also, 3DS Apps?

Indeed - the addition of a GOOD browser (the NetFront tech) is paramount for the 3DS as a serious pocket device, should Nintendo have the desire to expand the capabilities past gaming and into Apps. Facebook on Wii is woeful. I for one hope that if they do go down the App road, they make it very clear that there should be a distinct difference between 3DSWare games and 3DS Apps. Apps should be like your Facebook App, maybe a notepad - you know, utilities. What we don't want to see is all the Farmvilles infecting the console. Nintendo should still be the publisher for games and really push the content quality.

Aussie-Gamer.com : Government Wants to Eliminate MA15+ Games in Australia for R Rating

Right. I mean, I watched Law and Order SVU the other day and was disgusted at the content. Something about a priest having sex with kids and it's it's rated M and shown in primetime! Now, even though you don't actually SEE the priest committing the crimes, the CONTENT is still worse that any game I've ever played. Not only that, but the poor young child actors have to deliver those disgusting lines about what he did to them. Okay, so that show disgusted me - but that doesn't mean I would have it banned from the country. If it had some kind of artistic reason to be made (I didn't watch the whole episode), then good on it. I'm saying that it's ridiculous to broadcast that over free-to-air TV and then have the nerve to ban copious amounts of games, each costing around $100 each to those interested in playing them, because they might have some blood, or boobs, or a plot about a priest sleeping with kids...

Aussie-Gamer.com : Government Wants to Eliminate MA15+ Games in Australia for R Rating

There's a clause in the computer game classification law that says any game that has content which is "unsuitable for minors" will be refused classification. No classification = illegal to import into Australia. What we need to do is eliminate that clause because while it's fair to think of the children, it's completely unfair to control adult's entertainment like that. I'm worried that if they bring in an R18+ rating, they might KEEP that clause in meaning instead of it being a massive change in mature content in Australia, they will simply use it to add further restrictions to games that are currently rated MA15+. So, gamers want R18 because they think they will get games like Mortal Kombat in Australia whereas the harsh reality may be that nothing will change (even if R18 gets passed) if they don't eliminate that "unsuitable for minors" clause in the legislation. Interestingly, it's ASSUMED that the clause will be removed or amended but no one has EVER mentioned it.

You're right, perhaps that point should have been mentioned but should the states move to have individual classification systems, I don't think it would be a step forward. For example, nothing is saying that in SA's proposed plan that they will get the violent games; the same limitations may still exist but instead of labeling it "MA" they would change it to "R18". This would be counter-productive as it wont ensure mature games like Mortal Kombat coming into that state; it may also hurt the industry in terms of sales, etc. But all in all, his plans are a small but necessary step in the right direction. Never before have states bothered to introduce their own plans for classification - let's just hope they do the right thing. Let's not lose sight of the real issue; mature gamers (18 and older) should have the RIGHT to play whatever game they like - that includes if it has people's limbs flying around or if it includes a sex scene or two.

Aussie-Gamer.com : Nintendo 3DS Battery Tested Against Nintendo DS

Well, that's a good point too - how long do people actually play the console in one sitting? I don't think I've played my DS for huge chunks of time (unless during a sick day). The cradle is genius, I think - because people don't play the console for large chunks of time, they probably leave the console lying around, going days or even weeks without touching it. It's good that there's a place to drop it where it'll be ready and waiting for you to pick it up.
