So far in 7th I'm not enjoying the psychic phase. It's a lot of stuffing around for what it does. And don't get me started on daemon summoning.

Interesting article. I wasn't aware you could target a unit with stomp attacks that wasn't engaged in combat with you. Are you sure that's right?

All space marine flyers have the ceramite plating. It dates back to the thunderhawk entry when it was the only flyer.

Fluff-wise they are all high speed re-entry vehicles, so they use it to not explode when they come in hot.

I had a surreal apoc game last year where the pivotal combat in the middle was a wolf lord with thunderwolf calvalry vs Skulltaker and some bloodcrushers.

In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only FREAKY CAVALRY!

I don't see them making you break all your basic troops. I'll wait til I see the actual book.

As for the flyer. It's the first space marine flyer that's come out that I think looks good without modification.
To me that looks like a boarding torpedo. I see that thing just coming through the atmosphere almost vertical and blasting away at the ground before levelling out at the last moment to drop off troops.

If you read the Horus Heresy books the space wolves use landing craft all the time, and tend to drive them at breakneck speed.

They have to live to assault. That means sitting at point blank range for a turn doing not very much while the enemy army kills them.

And don't forget I can get 3 Landspeeders for the cost of a 5 man terminator squad with a couple of upgrades.

Or slightly more dakka. I see termies die to failed armour saves more often than Ap2. The issue they have is that every casualty hurts in a 5 man squad.

It can be a trap to take too many low AP weapons. When you run into tons of Orks/IG/'Nids you start to wish you had more flamers.

You do need some though or you have the opposite problem vs monsters and heavy armour.

I find that landspeeders do that job better, for cheaper. Every time I run terminators without stormshields I am disappointed.

I had another look in the codex last night and they seem to have upgraded vanquishers to AP2. So they aren't too bad after all.
