Now they air crap like:
Ice Road Truckers- (not about anything historical)
Ax Men (Again, no history)
American Pickers (sure, they find historical stuff, but they don't explain what it is)
Top Shot (no History)
I actually do enjoy these, though:
MonsterQuest (actually not bad, they try to prove teh existence of Sasquootch & co)
Pawn Stars: (people bring in items of "great" historical value, either sell or pawn the item, then the show goes in depth and explains whatever the person is selling. Sometimes its nothing more than old jewelry, other times it might be Oddjob's script from Goldfinger, and still other times it might be Revolutionary War Bonds. Not a bad show, the best off their list of New Shows.)

As for the Atheist's role in politics, I think we should openly and publicly denounce the racist and discriminatory acts of the teabaggers. That way, atheists will be seen as the good guys for once. Atheists can not stay in shades of gray, their is no gray, there are only shades of black and white, at least for atheists. Any atheist who stays neutral when their rights are being destroyed is only helping our opposition, and weakening us. Atheists need to stand up for their rights and need to do so loudly and publicly (or silently and popular blogg-ily). Not to do so is to help the religious obliterate us.

intangible, but causes humanity to make tangible decisions. But a soul being an invisible marker of goodness is completely idiotic.

but regardless, I will explain. My purpose in life is
to acheive happiness, that is, to do whatever will
increase the value of my life. This could mean I will
start a buisness once I'm out of college, I could
attempt to make it in Hollywood, I could publish a
book/make a movie depicting the idiocy of religion,
etc. My purpose is also to live. I will not live for
somebody else, just as they will not live for me, I
will not allow it. I will help another only when I
have the urge to do so or if I get something of value
for my assistance. Something of value could be
anything that one holds above all else. It could be
money, gemstones, stamps, a toy, a computer, it could
even be love. I have not a do not plan to ever take
something by force or fraud, this would be detrimental
to society which is, in turn, deterimental to myself.
To kill is to forfeit your own life, to steal is to
forfeit your properties, to suppress and oppress
others is to forfeit your liberty. These are my main
guidelines, these are what drive my live. I
wholeheartedly believe that everyone is equal, that no
one man weilds power that no other can gain. The
President of the US is only a human, no more so than
you or me, if you think he has power over what you say
and do, than he does have power over you. This applies
to everyone, especially the pope. What makes him so
great? Is it the fact he is "more holier" than
everyone else, or is it because he says so? What can
the pope do that you can't? Can he raise the dead? no.
Can he turn water into wine? no. Can he rid the world
of evil? no. Can he control an entire people using
coercion, fear, and manipulation? Yes. Another example
would be to look at your priest. Who said you have to
go to a school to be holy? Anyone can do what they do
at seminaries, and yet, only the preists from
seminaries are viewed as holier than thou. Is your God
picky about who gets to spread his word? One would
think he'd let everyone be as "holy" as his minions in
the Vatican, but alas, it is not so. Those that
believe in their priests "holiness" are also willing
to be his slave, for what he says is exactly what your
God would say, right? Or are you a slave, bound in the
chains of grief, guilt and fear by his grace, the
pope? My purpose is to live free of fear, free of
guilt, and free of grief. I do not fear death, death
is a reminder to live, and so I live to be happy. I do
not grieve over the dead, grief is the opposite of
happiness, and if the dearly departed was close, I
know they wouldn't want me to wallow in sadness over
their death. And I do not feel guilt, guilt is always
the precursor to grief, and is best to be avoided by
living for myself and living in the present. Living in
present doesn't mean to take risks, rather it means to
not worry about the past, but learn from it, not to
cower from the future but, to embrace it, and not hide
from the present, but to live it. This is my purpose
in life, to live, to learn and to embrace but all thw
while respecting humanities rights to life, liberty,
and property.
