Since I stopped being Christian, which has been a few years now, I really stopped paying attention to that kind of thing. Atheists were only beginning to become vocal a few years before I left the faith, and at the time, I brushed them off as a few fringe elements. However, I have to admit, they (we) have become a force to be contended with and sometimes, (most of the time) we can be brash and insulting. But its not only the atheists doing the attacking. That's why I believe its mostly political. Yeah, people are afraid to attack Muslims, insulting the Jews is considered antisemitic, a definite taboo, so that does leave the Christians to be the whipping boy. I suppose everyone has their time. I don't have any links, and I don't have any examples of Hollywood going off on us. I'm only speaking from personal experience. The ones that have made fun of muslims such as the South Park guys, however, or the facebook gal that suggested 'draw mohammed day, did get death threats. And don't forget Salmon Rushdie who had to hide for years because of a novel he wrote that offended muslims and that dutch director (forget his name) that was killed because of something he made offending them. Yeah, so muslims are pretty much left alone because they fight back with a big stick and Hollywood definitely leaves us alone, probably because they're democrats and so are a lot of atheists. Who knows. I imagine Hollywood might go off on Christians not because of their belief, but because of their politics, especially their stand on homosexuality. That separation of church and state thing seems to get conveniently forgotten about when that subject comes up. But yeah, it's not nice to verbally abuse or poke fun at anyone. But, honestly, its really not worth getting all hot and bothered about. Life goes on. People make fun of muslims and atheists all the time. People say awful things about atheists. I have never had to put up with any crap when I was a christian and when I was a christian, I sill had a sense of humor. I haven't seen this movie, so I can't really comment on the type of humor that is in it, but in general, people have gotten overly sensitive lately. Muslims are made fun of all the time, some of them take it in stride and some of them kill you. Because of the extreme ones, we all must walk on tiptoes? True, Christians take it more because they tend to look the other way, but what's wrong with taking it in stride and moving on? Should we all be striking back because we got our feelings bruised? Maybe if someone doesn't like a particular brand of humor, just pass on it and don't make a federal case of it. All I keep hearing from christians is about how they're being persecuted now. For crying out loud, they are still the majority and maybe they're getting cranky because they're losing that particular status.
