Whats the deal with that?Tell me where they did this survey and the policical affilations of the people surveyed!I know that I voted for a bill that stated if there was a tax increase it had to be approved by the voters!This state is making me so damn mad! My husband is in a Union(NOT by choice) and we have looked into where he can opt out of his unions policical contributions but we can't find his union on the list. Maybe because it''s a small union, but he still wanted to be able to opt out and no luck. I am furious about this! We live paycheck to paycheck, use coupons, put the least amount of gas in our cars a week to get us to just where we have to go, putting a kid through college, and trying to raise 2 other teenagers! We can not afford more taxes! I so wish I could pack up and leave this state (would love to go to Texas), but right now we are stuck! IMO let them put this on the ballot! People like me and my husband and many other people will fight these unions with all we have! They may have the money to put behind this, but we have our hearts and souls behind this! I am not relying on Social Security to be there, but I am fortunate enough that my husband has 2 retirements that we can depend on it.Although I live in Cali , I would love to move! But where do you go? California is in such a state if denial that most people here don't realize what are furture holds, who knows what Brown is going to do! I used to work for the Welafare department in 2000 and it was a job that I could NOT handle! All of the coruption that went on in there, after a few months I left (and yes threw away a chance of the CalPers retirement!) It wasn't worth it to me when I had to give Medi Cal to an illegal who had racked up $100,000 worth of hopital bills from a accident and all he had to say was "yes" he "planned" on staying in Cali for 6 months.He was back in mexico with in a few weeks!There were people that came in and really needed help and I had to deny them because they didn't know how to work the system! Thats our tax money they are using! Again, please don't get me wrong, IMO if you need the SSI and SSD and you have paid into it, part of me says Hell yes, give it to me now, but also I feel like chidren getting it and people who have never paid into it cutting those would cut a lot of spending. I personally know a lot of people who are young (in their 20's) who are collecting SSI and SSD because of things like Bi polar Disorder, receiving money and having NEVER paid into the system. Also what about children that receive SSD for mental or medical issues? I am confused over this and part of me feels like they are taking money that my Husband and I have paid into to support them. It's really no different then welfare (and yes they still qualify for state welfare, food stamds and low income housing)! Please don't get me wrong, there ARE disabilities that are worthy of receiving SSD, but when you can get mad easy and claim Bi polar Disorder (which can be treated) does that person deserve to receive these entitlements? IMO it's all about working the system. In the state of California there is now a 5 year cap on Welfare, when that runs out or you don't comply with the work requirements, what happens? You find a Dr. that will deem you crazy, put you on meds and you get SSD and SSI..Not right IMO.... I have come across some great teachers in the past with my 3 children, they are and always be treasured, loved and remembered! I am lucky that my kids pay attention when their dad and I talk about polictics, my 15 year old son will debate a liberal teacher in class and that makes my day! Just think, a 15 year old debating and making more sense then his teacher. Sometimes I think the kids in his class learn more from him then they do from the teacher!
