: Exploiting The Colorado Theater Massacre

During most of human history - and presently with those humans who remain in tribal societies faced with dangers from raiders and predatory animals - male members of the tribe are expected to defend the group and die fighting as may be necessary. They are all warriors, even as on a daily basis they are farmers, herdsmen, potters, smiths, etc. In our frontier days men dropped their plows and grabbed their rifles when raiders struck. Again, it was expected of them and they killed those who tried to harm their families and the group as a whole. Today we live in "protected" societies and the warrior obligation has been relegated to others. A mistake. I believe with all my heart that the males or our species have an obligation to protect and defend unto death their loved ones and the weak and helpless of their societies. I am armed and will do my duty. Shouldn't you?

The Old Testament - quoted and revered by Jesus and his Apostles - is rife with genocide, torture, infanticide, looting and every sort of abomination, all ordered by the same God as the one of the so-called New Testament. The Mountain Meadow Massacre pails to virtual insignificance next to the Bible God-sanctioned violence perpetrated against the peoples of Canaan by Moses, Joshua and a host of other barbarians. I know, I know - God ordered it, so it was OK, right?

The entire body of your work is designed to shore up the defenses in your mind that preserve your cherished state of being - certainty that you are right. Black and white is all that can exist for the true believer. No room at all for grey. You are an intelligent man who must continuously slap mortar on the bricks that make up the foundation of your cherished notions; because deep down you cannot help but doubt. Don't deny it. You live in fear of the truth that can only be found in the reality you steadfastly hold at arm's length, lest it test you and find you wanting; a state of being you cannot tolerate. You steadfastly deny what is as plain as the nose on your face, because you are become a prisoner of the lies that support your needs. Truth has no place in your life. You accept fantasy to be truth, simply because it suits you. You are of the majority of mankind, although you believe in all your heart to be of the anointed few who truly grasp the truth, such as you see it to be. I know your kind well.

"Mystical" and "miraculous" equate to superstition: a willing acceptance of the unreal that suits a person of faith's deepest psychological needs. The Pope chanting a mass in all his golden finery is no different in my opinion than a Zulu witch doctor shaking a goat-bladder rattle while mumbling prayers to Unkulunkulu. The deeper one digs into the willing-dispensation-with-reality that is religious faith, "the more increasingly indefensible it becomes"...unless one understands that the person of faith needs and cherishes the beliefs because he/she just cannot cope with life and reality just as it truly is. Such people need and demand the certainty that only faith can provide. Lies are lies, even when made to oneself - which can be the worst of all.

Contrary to what a lot of people of faith like to espouse, religion is not at all about reason. It is about belonging. It is about shared longings. It is about feeling good about oneself and one's fellows. It can be about the feeling of superiority over all infidels, while being the dirtiest, poorest and least educated goat-herder in the land. It is having the answers to the great mysteries, with the freedom from agonizing doubt that can come from it. Religious faith comes from a deep psychological need that constantly builds impregnable walls around itself for fear reason may penetrate and threaten what is cherished.

Big Peace : Media and Obama Administration Reserve Harsher Treatment for U.S. Soldiers than Taliban

There is also the fact that liberals in general are taught to deplore violence as something done by inferior Neanderthals, not superior intelectuals, which is how they perceive themselves. With that belief, liberals haughtily dismiss anyone who carries a gun as a member of the despised, who is not to be willingly associated with, much less supported. That attitude underlays their politics and is the source of their weakness towards all things military.

Big Journalism : Correcting the Progressive Spin on My Defense of the Marines

What kind of Marine veteran are you? I am a retired US Army tank commander now in my sixties, with a quarter century of service all over the world. General "Blood and Guts" Patton talked of enemy guts greasing the tracks of his tanks. (They actually make a stinking mess that's hard to clean off and attracts clouds of flies.) Pissing on the corpses of enemy soldiers who tried to kill you and succeeded in killing your buddies is not a desecration. To those Marines it is a celebration of victory and a show of disdain for the sons-of-bitches who routinely set up the IEDs that blow up their buddies. I piss on what "negatively affects perceptions of Americans." What the Taliban do to our Marines and Afghan women and children certainly "negatively affects" those Marines, and pissing on their dead corpses is an expression of that. To hell with all PC pansies who will never know the camaraderie the hell of war forges in the men who actually fight.

Big Peace : Marine Video: Why Doesn't The Media Blame It On Obama?

Victorious warriors pissing on their enemies is a tradition among fighting peoples that goes back to the beginning of time. The PC, non-violent pussies of this world can't understand that. When General "Blood and Guts" Patton pissed in the Rhine river (he didn't piss on German bodies - but I'm sure he would have approved of it) as his troops began entering Germany during WWII, it was in that tradition - contempt for an enemy who thought himself a superior being, but got his ass kicked by those he held in contempt. The Taliban bastards murder little girls who go to school, and butcher their teachers. If I was there, I would have joined those men and presented my middle-finger as well.

Big Government : In Smith and Wesson We Trust (and It Looks Like Santa Does Too)

The right to be armed is the first right to be lost under totalitarianism. Any sign of resistance and you are locked up or killed. A government that fears the people, fears their weapons most of all. I carry a Taurus M85 .38 special for CCW. I like its rugged simplicity. I also own a M1934 Beretta .380 that my father brought back from WW2. I have taught my teenage daughter and wife to shoot them both. My daughter can put all five rounds of the Taurus and all seven rounds of the Beretta in the head of a human silhouette target at 25 feet. She's better than I ever was, and I always qualified expert with a pistol in the military, which she intends to join when she graduates from high school this year.

Breitbart.tv : Paul Defends Past Criticism Of AIDS Patients

I will state up front and very clearly that I am not a Ron Paul supporter. I am, however, a student of history. During the times of our revolutionary forefathers there was dog fighting, bear baiting, ratting, cock fighting, dueling, rampant prostitution, rough-and-tumble fighting (eye-gouging and biting permitted), and many other forms of "entertainment" that are illegal today. Most of our forefathers would oppose unto death any efforts to make them illegal. They believed in a man's freedom to do as he wished unless someone else was unwillingly harmed by it. They did not believe it was government's duty to regulate morality and proscribe acts that were merely distasteful to others. They felt the same way about smoking, drinking and the frequenting of opium dens.

Big Peace : The United States Government's Willful Ignorance Is Costing Soldiers' Lives

I am a retired US Army veteran tank commander. I never gave a damn what politicians thought. If the bastards outside the wire were America's enemies and were trying to kill my crew, pulling the trigger is what soldiers do. Troops who are consumed with finding reasons for being in danger can have difficulty fighting and can forget the task at hand. They forget the expectation is for them to kill America's enemies, not get college money. That the soldier opposite us is seeking to harm America and Americans in any way is reason enough - at least it always was for me. Wringing hands and sweating with worry you might get hurt or killed over something not important enough for it, makes for sheep who ought not be soldiers.

We simply need to become entirely energy self-sufficient (oil) and watch as the North African, Arabian and middle-eastern societies revert to a subsistence based on camel and goat herding, date picking, rug weaving and raiding as before. The big money would come from tourism. I've been reading encouraging articles about new technologies (sideways drilling, etc.) quickly leading us in that direction. Look how hysterical the Iranian leadership is becoming with western threats to hamper their oil exporting. Without oil they will actually live the fifteenth century life they so pray for.

Big Peace : 3-Sep-11 World View -- Turkey Expels Israel's Ambassador

Some thoughts: The status of the relationship between two nations has always directly depended on the usefulness of that relationship. Never doubt that each nation's own interests are paramount and that the relationship will end when one nation no longer finds that relationship useful. Self-interest dominates individuals and expresses itself in the collective as well. Self-respect is not far behind. Never doubt that a majority of citizens of a nation that gets charity from another hates the giver; this because they hate themselves for needing it. Pride has been hurt. "Macho" cultures receiving of US bounty especially hate us because the need for the aid can be seen as a penis size reducer. To lessen the hurt to their pride, the citizens of Islamic nations laugh out loud at the utter stupidity of our giving aid to them, when it is well known that their religion (Islam) forbids them to be friends to infidels. It is of even greater stupidity when we refuse to recognize that with Afghanistan, for example, there is virtually no recognition of a state; only a centuries-old enmity between competing and warring tribes and ethnic groups. I am proud to be a born citizen of the United States of America and a retired veteran; and I hold America's interests above all others. Never doubt that all other nations, tribes and ethnic groups as well, feel the very same thing about themselves. It is the nature of man and that nature will not change. We are now and always will be tribal. We are inclusive of others only when it serves our best purposes. We will make war at the drop of a hat upon those not like us if our survival is at stake. The whole of man's history is a testament to that fact.
