I received this from a Mr. Stephen B. Tabeling

My goal is to start the Corner Club is to have various, busy corners covered throughout the county. The idea behind the Corner Club came from my interest in trying to keep messages in front of the public. One way of doing that is to be at the same corner one day per week at the same time. Drivers will begin to expect a message as they drive home from work. The time I selected for my corner effort is Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. (in Bel Air, MD at Route 1 South and Bond St)

I would suggest boldly printed signs that cover a current issue. I am trying to display a message in 5 words or less

This is an excellent idea, especially during the congressional recess, fits into our efforts to educate and can be done more easily by those who work. Being retired I can do daytime picketing as I am doing tomorrow in Bel Air at Rep. Kratovil's office with some friends. We also will have a TEA Party at the Rep's office on Aug 11 from 4 pm to 6 pm.

We had a protest in Centreville, MD at Rep. Kratovil’s (D-MD) district office. The rain held off so our parade around the one block in town to Mr. Kratovil’s office was uneventful. The police kept us off the road bed even though the office was on a low traveled side street. That caused the group of 100+ to be compacted in the mid 80 degree and humid weather. The office manager came out and he was strongly engaged. The protesters were reasonably civil considering that no one had admitted voting for Mr. Kratovil when the crowd at the rally assembly point was asked. So it was a very partisan crowd.

I would have liked the office manager to have had an opportunity to speak without being interrupted. Because of the small area for the protest, I stayed outside of the crowd, but I was told he gave talking points that were unacceptable as to why Mr. Kratovil voted for the cap and trade bill. But he was “brave” enough to face the crowd. Obviously our presence intimidated the staff since a lady there with children said she was afraid to leave the office. It’s a shame our congresspeople don’t feel a bit the same way.

The Harford Tax Revolt Coalition in Harford County, MD has decided to picket Rep Kratovil's Bel Air, MD office at 202 S. Main Street on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 4 pm until 6 pm. They are also considering additional picketing and others are also considering an extended peaceful picketing effort in July. I have done this on my own initiative for a week at a US Senator's regional office and at Mr. Kratovil's Bel Air office for 3 days. Now the local TEA Party organization is picking up where I left off.

Please America start peacefully confronting your delegation members over their taxing, spending and the expansion of government over our lives before it is too late and America is changed forever.

They are also considering additional picketing and others are also considering an extended picketing effort in July. Mr. Kratovil has voted for both the stimulus bill and the cap and trade bill without having read either. He is also a lawyer who would be ill-advised to have applied this model to consideration of a contract for a client. But I guess the people's work requires less stringent professionalism.

It is time that across America we being to daily express our anger at what congress is doing by peacefully picketing our delegation's regional offices. Voting in Novemeber 2010 will be too late for our country.

I might add that the coalition has been in the forefront in the successful effort to reducing Harford County property taxes and placing a cap on future increases.

Added thoughts:

We are organizing now to picket our MD senators and rep. district offices. I have already did that at two offices. We need more help.

4th and final post:

The majority of our citizens in our beloved Republic have too often stayed silent when government has begun to encroach upon our civil and economic liberties; that has often led to violence in the end. Let us not wait for a act of violence from government or an element in our society to force us to see that the path our country is traveling down is towards less freedom and liberty for all. We need to react now in a peaceful but more forceful manner than in the recent past to change that path and divert anyone wanting to resort to violence.

Take care and be safe.

3rd part of post:

The Taxed Enough Already Parties and the correspondence to those elected to the House of Representatives, the House closest to the people, has not influenced their votes or actions enough as was shown with the Cap and Trade bill. Therefore, following the path laid down by MLK, we must take a more direct path and picket Representative's and Senators' district offices as well as continue with public and private declarations to them that they are not following the will of the people, such as the Taxpayer March on DC on 9-12-2009

2nd part of post:

When government has not reacted properly to real grievances by it's citizens, even in America, we have had serious rebellions; Shay's Rebellion of 1786 in Massachusetts is one and there were others at that time in other states, but less notable. The tree of liberty was watered with the blood of many and deaths of 4 patriots during Shays' Rebellion. But even as those rebellions failed, our first constitution, the Articles of Confederation, was shown to be weak and was in 1788 replaced by our present Constitution.

1st part of post:

As I said in my speech at the July 4th Elkton TEA Party, those who are against what is occurring in our country must become more active in challenging our public officials. The anti 1st Amendment Sedition Acts by President Wilson succeeded because Americans did not react when they were proposed and little when they were enforced; we were at war it was said and they were needed. Even the Supreme Court did not initially declare them unconstitutional, but many lives were disrupted in the meantime. Remember all laws are enforced as constitutional until challenged and the courts determine they are not, assuming the executive branch follows the rule of law.
