PLAYERESSENCE : Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Delayed to Spring 2016

I wonder if it is to try for 1080p 60 frames per second. More seriously yes even Nintendo delayed some games at launch, but this is turning into a ridiculous trend. The only reason they can get away with doing this so often is they have so much third party support as well as some game that they have locked in to this year. It really seems that games are launched broken and early MCC or delayed for copious amounts of time, what a great defining trend for the 8th console generation.

PLAYERESSENCE : Code Name S.T.E.A.M. Review Roundup - Looking Kinda Average (72%)

I suspect it will be a game that will be decisive. The difficulty has be described as hard but fair to brutal, some like the movement system and others don't. Most agree that the characterization is shallow and enemy turns are a bit long and the multilayer has strange omissions. I still think it looks a fantastic game and most sites seem to agree.

PLAYERESSENCE : OMG THE RELIEF! tri-Ace will Reportedly Still make Console Games

I am happy to hear it but am wary, specifically on two points. The first is the fourth aim "their fourth objective is to become the number one group when it comes to its scale and profits". If the mobile sector is more profitable what will it mean for console development? The other point is "tri-Ace can still be an outsource studio for console titles.". It sounds like it will only do console development if the are outsourced which means it will be up to other companies to initiate projects that they work on. Furthermore it means IP's like Star Ocean will be dependent on the companies that hold the IP's. That said a lot of Japaneses game companies are not in strong positions. It is good news that they will be available for console development but like Francis I am also very wary of there future.

PLAYERESSENCE : Indie Developers Praise the Wii U, Explain why its Viable and Safe for Their Games

It's good to see this kind of reaction as Nintendo has made significant strides in indie polices and relationships. The fact that it now has a user base of around 10 million also makes it a solid market prospect as long as the games are of a decent quality. The fact that it is not as popular or has a massive install base also means it is a market place with less competition, combined with an audience that has a good games attach rate it is definitely a more viable prospect for indies now. The fact that Don't Stave and Never Alone are coming is a sign of this. In some ways it seems that it has matured with companies like RCMADIAX pulling back on multiple projects and no long spamming out simple games it indicates that it will get more quality titles but will still enable new and unique ideas to have a chance. Games like Runbow, Hex Heros etc showing this. This is also likely a reaction to the customer base maturing as well demanding substantial experiences which in the end is a win for the entire e-shop and the Wii U in general.

PLAYERESSENCE : FINAL FANTASY XV -EPISODE DUSCAE- Dungeon Gameplay Video

I don't see the fantasy as people have said it's a cave I really have to hope they are just showing the entrance, as most games I know of now would call it an explorable area or a place for a secret not a dungeon. I want it to be good and to succeed but I really think they a focusing on the wrong aspects. Then again it is just a demo so the final game might be a lot better, we will see.

PLAYERESSENCE : Itagaki is keen on the Pro Controller for Devil's Third

Not unexpected considering it was developed as a 360/PS3 game with a traditional controller setup. That said I don't remember pointer control or other control methods being mentioned. As for being different from the 2011 reveal I have already seen people saying that Nintendo destroyed the game play style even before this, I however can't wait to play it. As for secrets Nintendo Easter eggs, costumes, Ninja Gaiden references the list of possibilities it quite extensive.

PLAYERESSENCE : tri-Ace Acquired by Nepro Japan, Becomes Dedicated Smartphone/Mobile dev .....

It dose seem to happen a lot now, seriously the amount of buyouts and closures is getting to an insane level now. However at the same time a lot of new companies are springing up because of them, in some ways leading to a revitalization of the industry which is a positive that is coming out of nonsense that is happening at the moment.

PLAYERESSENCE : tri-Ace Acquired by Nepro Japan, Becomes Dedicated Smartphone/Mobile dev .....

Could Microsoft have bought it out? I had the impression that Japanese laws were strict to prevent international buyouts. Its unfortunate but the Japaneses gaming industry is nowhere near as strong and in a phase of transition towards mobile at the moment. Very few companies could have bought it or would have the desire (in some ways I am surprised that Square didn't as they could have used them the same way with the new focus on mobile), hence it dose make sense for Nepro with the move to mobile in Japan. As for Nintendo it is really impossible for us to know how the chose what and who to save and who to let go, their criteria is not well demonstrated or obvious. The best case now is that employes might leave to join or create other studios and companies like Nintendo. That said it is really sad I really enjoyed the Star Ocean series and have Resonance of Fate that I am planning to play this year. It really dose seem that the JRPG is a dying genre outside of Square and Nintendo but the ideas and quirkiness that smaller companies like tri-Ace brought to the genre were interesting and refreshing and something that will be missed. It seems if we want it back we will have to rely on new small companies like Furyu with Legend of Legacy but on console.

PLAYERESSENCE : Monolith Soft Would LOVE to see a Xenoblade amiibo Series, what About you?

While it would be nice and I would undoubtedly get some of them I don't know if there is a point. Shulk worked as he was a fighter in Smash Bros and has the remake on 3ds and Chronicles coming out. Other figures like Ryan (Ryan Time Baby), Melia, Riki, Dunban etc are far more niche and secondary. The idea with amiibo is that they are meant to be not only collectables buy value add to a variety of games hence why they use big character IP names. While Shulk works on that level if it happened with other characters they would be more collectables unless they activated the same content as he dose. Or were limited to secondary functionality like in Hyrule Warriors where it unlocks random stuff with unrelated amiibo. At least unless they plan on expanding the Xenoblade game series in a big way. While this would also be true of characters like Game and Watch and other obscure Smash characters I feel it would be more so with Xenoblade figures, that said you never know with Nintendo. Thought I suspect it would be dependent on the sales of Xenobalde 3D and Chronicles to determine if there is a real market for them unless of course they would be a limited edition set for collectors.

PLAYERESSENCE : The Order: 1886 Attracts “Uncanny Haterade” Says Director

All big games suffer from overhype these days particularly if it is a console exclusive release especially on the HD twins though it can also happen with some Nintendo games to. To be fair there were warning signs thought. http://playeressence.com/the-order-1886-5-reason-... While he has a point about negativity the pre-release play through doesn't help nor is really acceptable, and did give ammo to haters. It is one of the major new releases that are mean to justify/ sell the PS4 as a big exclusive title as most current gen AAA games are. One of the big selling points being the graphics and a supposed unique and new experience which invites critique and criticism. I have little interest in it but if they thought that a lot of opinions both negative and positive were not going to happen they were very naive particularity with the choices they made even if the game wasn't leaked early. That said the move towards interactive movies which this game seems to follow is a regrettable practice in the industry.

PLAYERESSENCE : Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal Miss Sales Targets

It was a bad decision to one let the development get so bad (regardless of who's fault it was) and two release the game like that. Sonic dose not have the fan base of other mascots nor the respect it once did due to his confused identity. If they really though that since it was a kids game that would fly they have had a nasty reality check. Even if the massive patch fixed the problems this game is already tarnished, if they had hopes that it would help their financial situation it was delusional. Whatever Sonic team is doing will have to be fantastic to resurrect the Sonic name though due to split nature of sonic fans being pure speed (boost mode/ Sonic Generations) vs skill = speed (original games/ Lost World) they likely won't please everyone anyway hence the future of the Blue Blur is looking increasing dark.

PLAYERESSENCE : Evolve has Around $130 of DLC not Covered in its Season Pass

Welcome to the future of gaming. I know they said they built the game around DLC distribution but this is ridiculous. This is why I feel giving any gaming company an inch is dangerous. Ubisoft says that players are used to DLC so lets have a game that constantly asks you if you want to by it when trying to get a quest or mission (or so I've heard in Unity). This however is as anti consumer as you can get, a season pass that doesn't include all the content or omits a large amount. I get a very bad feeling form this, soon we could have different levels of season passes at this rate that could be as convoluted as pre-order bonuses and editions are now if this is allowed to continue.

PLAYERESSENCE : I'm not Surprised by Sega's Downfall

I think Sonic Boom shows how bad a shape Sega was in with the rumors of a mass exodus of development staff before release. It could have been a lack of money or support or something else but coupled with stealth releases like Anarchy Reigns and investing money in new IP's that didn't sell well it has put them in a bad position. Nintendo can get away with new IP's as it has a solid base of existing ones that it usually treats well but with Sega seemingly searching for the silver bullet that will redefine Sonic hence the massive leaps between games has undermined the IP that could have given them stability. Its sad but I feel that Sonic and Sega is in a spiraling identity crisis. SOA in the nineties had a clear identity and definition it defined Sega and Sonic even if it meant butting heads with SOJ and the creators of Sonic a lot over a lot of things. After turning third party due to the terrible decisions in the last few years in the console market it seems to have lost most of that. My suspicion is now that outside of Sonic few resources will be dedicated to console orientated projects unless they are exclusives or or commissions, like the three game deal with Nintendo. Also this downsizing it could be that Sammy the parent company is indicating that it will devote a lot less resources to Sega and gaming in general due to it's poor performance.

I feel they have already just unofficially the number of games that Bandi Namco have helped develop (Smash Bros, Project Treasure etc) or are exclusive already indicate a very strong partnership, as with Platinum (2 games) and Koei Tecmo (continuing to support DLC). I think you can also tell by companies that are adopting Amiibo support early. As to whether they will announce specific partnership more recently the three game deal with Sega that ended with Sonic Boom its a possibility. The other thing they seem to be doing is seeking and reviving games that are canceled or in hiatus like Devils Third which they are also making exclusives.

It doesn't mean that it won't come this year although the year is pretty packed with Nintendo releases, that said if it is as ambitious as some other titles it could well be a huge game that is packed with content that is being developed along with Project Steam and FE 3DS 2. If I had to guess once Project Steam is out it's development might accelerate but I also suspect that it is a game that Nintendo would allow to go to next year given all the titles that are going to release this year.
