you need to read more of the comic man. he rapes and murders innocent people for shits and giggles. these acts are absolutely in no way related to the "kill one, save a thousand" principle in the movie. it's not very goofy or dismissible.

i fail to see anything funny about this. honestly, he has a take on how to tell a spawn story that differs considerably from the first movie, so? if he said he was thinking of doing an "H.M.S. Pinafore type of musical" with ted danson as his dream choice for a lead, THAT would make me laugh. he has high hopes of making a great movie, in what way is that laughable?

and as far as his massive ego and grandiose plans are concerned, the dude has some pretty grandiose accomplishments as well. starting image comics could have failed utterly, but those guys had big enough egos to believe that creators should own their creations. he also started a successful action figure company from the ground up.

honestly man, i get what you're trying to say, but insulating that i should actually laugh at todd macfarlane for having this idea; it really kinda makes you come off like a jack ass.

no more time travel! i accept it as the plot device to reboot the franchise, but i do not want to see it any more, ESPECIALLY not to introduce other old versions of characters. sorry peter, but i think i would walk out if old spock and old kirk got together for a team up in the sequel.

i'd like to see life on earth be explored a bit more in the sequel actually. i realize the entire point is about space exploration, but i think it could be an interesting paradigm shift to explore how life has been affected by the advent of the federation. not to say that the majority, or even a large minority, of the film should be on planet, but i think there could be some neat concepts to play with there.

and i REALLY like the idea of killing one of the crew members. like peter said, it would really solidify this new timeline/alternate reality/whatever it is, as its own entity. it would really raise the stakes and give the series a real sense of tangable danger.

i'd really like to know what kind of finger strengthening regiment mr. kirk utilizes to be able to hang onto cliff edges so adroitly. it was uncanny!

it was pretty good, not what i expected. i personally would have liked to see an outright reboot from the start. knowing nothing about star trek, i would've liked to have gotten to know the star trek universe better. how many planets are in this federation? what is the federation anyway? what is life like on earth? are there aliens all over it now?i really liked seeing kirk go through the academy, but i thought his promotion to captain from suspended student within a matter of hours was marginally ridiculous. i guess i just wanted to see him legitimately become captain kirk. he kinda seemed like captain technicality to me, but whatever.

overall it was a very enjoyable summer-stuff blows up all over the place and shit gets out of hand-style blockbuster, but i would consider it less of a successful franchise restart than batman begins was.

wait, wait, wait... his arm reaches for his still decapitated head after the credits and then his head says, "shhhhh" is that right?

PLEASE tell me that this entire movie will consist of him carrying his severed head around, trying to get someone to put it back on. i'm not kidding. i would pay at sooooooo much money to see that story on the big screen. it would more than make up for my disappointment in wolverine.

but hal kinda of is a douche bag. i mean, he's a super hero and he saves peoples lives and what not, but he's a ridiculously arrogant test pilot. i think this guy could come off as having cockiness and swagger, without being an obnoxious frat boy with super powers. i agree it could go wrong with too much douche in the mix, chris evans as johhny storm for example...

great podcast!

you forgot to mention my personal eye-rolling awful moment from wolverine: deadpool being remote controlled via some sort of high powered etcha-sketch. seriously, the movie was set before oregon trail came out, yet they had technology sufficient to control a teleporting laser visioned katana armed super mutatnt? i don't remember "control-alt-teleport" being one of the commands on the macintosh. god that movie was bad.
