Run Ansky Run : The 2011 Chicago Marathon

That was my point. I didn't want to get into a whole rambling diatribe about it. I tried to be short. I would like to think that if the race ever fell on Yom Kippur that they would change the date of the race even though it's always held Columbus Day weekend.

I've also run long the day after YK and notice the difference. I'm not running Chicago this year. If I do run a fall marathon it will Marine Corps.

Run Ansky Run : Change of Scenery

It longer than usual but my HR worked it's way back into zone 2 without too much work. I sent you a tweet but I wear a hydration belt on almost all of my long runs. I have the Amphipod Full Tilt 20/20. It has 2 20 oz. bottles. One I fill with Gatorade the other with water. I did some street carts in the park, there were also some on Central Park West just outside the park.

Run Ansky Run : Is It Winter Yet?

Matt, You don't look forward to winter for same reason I don't look forward to Summer. Winter in Colorado is much harsher than in New York. Summers are hotter here than in Colorado. Like I said, it's a personal preference. My asthma is much worse in hot and humid conditions. Breathing is hard and like I said in the blog post, every run is a struggle. I prefer running in colder temperatures.

Run Ansky Run : When a Marathon Isn\'t a Marathon

Roy, you bring up an interesting point. When I tell people outside of the running community that I am training for a marathon the first question they always ask me is "how long is the race?" As if they are associating the word "marathon" with a road race race of any distance. When I tell them that all full marathons are 26.2 miles they always want to know the origin of the distance. Which as we know is the distance (well almost) Pheidippides ran from Marathon to Athens. I still find it unusual that in most places we associate road races by their distances (5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon, marathon, etc...) but that's not the case in Hebrew.

Run Ansky Run : Why I'm Not Running a Fall Marathon (before I fractured my rib)

Wow! Are you sure you're not me? My plan was also to run a half marathon on October 18 before I fractured my rib 2 weeks ago. My doctor advised me to let the pain dictate what I can and cannot do. I think my rib is healing. I'm in a lot less pain than I was 2 weeks ago. However, I'm still feeling somewhat short of breath which is another side effect of a fractured rib. I have decided to to scrap my half marathon on October 18 and let me rib fully heal before returning to running. I have 3 5ks ion my calendar of November that I fully expect to participate in. Hope this helps and thanks for commenting.

Run Ansky Run : On Sports and Religion

Rosh Hashana is a set day also. Yes, the day of the week is different each year, but it is easy enough to find out when it is. I am not offended when races are held on the Jewish Sabbath. It comes every week and not everyone is as observant as I am. But, most Jews, regardless of their level of observance, will attend synagogue on Rosh Hashana on Yom Kippur. If they fall out during the week, most will not work.

Run Ansky Run : Feelin' the Need for Speed

You don't have to reset your Garmin after each interval. For speedwork, turn the "autolap" off and use the "lap" button on your Garmin. After each interval, hit "lap" so it records your split for the interval. The next "lap" will be your recovery. When you're ready for the next interval, hit "lap" again.

I also have been feeling great during my morning runs. The past few mornings in the NYC metro area have been absolutely perfect. Cool and crisp just like we runners like it. Perfect weather to enjoy your taper. Just get out there, have fun and enjoy the weather. You're going to kick ass on the 13th.

IronBrandon : BMP: Episode 47

I agree with both Erin and Brandon. I train with my Amphipod Full Tilt 20-20 but I do not race with it. I've been lucky so far that the 1/2 and full marathons I've run had the same fluids that I trained with. However, if a race has different fluids, Cytomax comes to mind, then I would consider racing with my Amphipod.
