The Toast : Gabbin' About God: Transubstantiation and The Lord's Supper

There's a joke that most Quakers are only silent for one hour a week.

Another Goldfish : Breastfeeding, Tongue-tie &

So sorry to hear you were pushed on to formula too. I was devastated for those first few bottles, but there were at least some benefits to switching to formula for us. It was much easier to bond with Jack once he wasn't causing me so much pain all the time. Plus Jack was feeding for at least 30-40 minutes and then would want feeding again after an hour, so I wasn't pinned down all the time.

It seems to be a regional thing. We have a cousin who lived in Gilford, and there all the midwives were train to check and snip tongue ties. Here in the north west there seems to only be one person trained to do it at Alder Hey.

Thanks, I'm amazed at how little support there is for breastfeeding problems. Since writing this I've been sent a link about lip ties (which Jack also has). We were told is was unlikely to be a problem so it wasn't worth treating, but I'm starting to suspect that was causing at least some of the problems. (Jack had a really horrible trick where he'd manage to suck a bit of the areola up between his lip and gum, giving it a hickey. It was so painful, but It didn't happen that often so I wasn't sure if it was 'normal'.)

Thanks. It didn't help that my health visitor claimed to support breastfeeding, but immediately started pushing me towards formula. She completely ignored the fact he'd had his tongue tie snipped and implied I just wasn't feeding him enough.

Another Goldfish : Warrington Foodbank

Luckily the Warrington Foodbank seems to be organised by people from a few different churches. I could see it being awkward if it was just one group involved. Warrington also has a 'warehouse' (which I think is just a bigger room over the YMCA furniture shop), where they inventory the food and track the expiry dates before bringing it over to the distribution centre. So there are opportunities to volunteer behind the scenes too.

Another Goldfish : Refurbished Dresser

I've found it helpful to set up a local furniture search on ebay - though it drives my husband nuts. I just give it a scan every couple of days to see if there's anything interesting at a good price. I've just bought a sleek set of drawers that were custom made for Liverpool Uni for £30 (just waiting to collect them). I'm hoping they'll clean up beautifully.
