Despite the danger, the characters have strong motivations to be there. Cole's family wants him back and the tv folks want big ratings. It's just hard to have a rooting interest in a show when the characters behave stupidly for no other reason than plot contrivance. Despite my gripes, I'm going to give "The River" another shot. I want this to be a good show and it's not too late for them to right the ship, so to speak.
