It looks sort of like the magic coming from the necklaces (the fart gas) works in tandem with their voices, and both must be present at the same time for either to work. You'll notice Vinyl has her headphones on and is what seems to be the only student who isn't listening to the siren-things. She seems to be nodding her head to a separate beat entirely. Kind of makes me think she's immune to their magic, or at least in this scene.

I wish they at least *tried* to get a better shot of the scene.
I find that almost always, you can find a perfect moment when no one is blinking and the wings are on the upbeat all in one frame. It just takes a minute or so of carefully going through and pausing that particular moment.
I would know, because I'm obsessive about having my memes look aesthetically pleasing. .-.
