Good points. I like to see people who consider alternative perspectives rather than race to judgment because they think they're psychic and know what happened even though the cops don't. I had no idea they were the same architect and plans but they do look exactly alike. Anyone who saw the devastation of the Cypress structure collapse would be all in favor of a tunnel over the viaduct. I'm glad they're finally going to dig. Spot on. I was in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and was supposed to be driving north (bottom lanes) on the Cypress structure when it collapsed. Thank God I was running late that day. The Cypress structure is just like our own viaduct, which is why I've been all in favor of tearing that thing down.

"now when officers are called to DV `s both parties are arrested and taken in." That's not true. 2 years ago, my ex was arrested and jailed for 21 days after assaulting me. They left me alone at home after hauling him away. I called the cops on another guy in my neighborhood around the same time because he was assaulting his girlfriend. They arrested him but left her alone at home as well after the assault. I believe there are some states that take both parties in, but it is not automatic here in Washington.

After I was assaulted by my last ex two years ago, I also read "Why Does He Do That" and it completely opened my eyes to this type of man. My ex was a classic text-book case and if I had read that book sooner, I would have seen that. I also came from a DV home and was abused by both parents for 18 years. I thought daily DV and fighting was normal. I learned over my adult years after leaving home that it is not normal, but still I managed to be sucked in by a few charming abusers whose abuse didn't surface for years after we got together. I never stayed with the abusers, though, giving them chance after chance. After my childhood, one hit is all it takes to get me to leave for good. No second chances. I'm so glad I read that book because since reading it, I can spot the abusive types better before they ever have a chance to charm their way in.

As soon as I heard about Michigan's similar problem, where they cut bus service drastically (same as proposed here if the $20 tab fee doesn't survive), I moved from Alki to within walking distance (2.4 miles) of my downtown job. I'm getting my daily exercise, don't have to worry about traffic, and no ice storm or snowpocalypse will keep me from getting to or from work. Best move I ever made.

Money is the root of all evil. How many examples of this do we need? Unchecked greed on Wall Street is currently hurting most of the nation - but most especially, the low income people. We are lead to believe these people are vetted. It's hard enough to spot an abuser because they keep that side of themselves separate from their public personas, but if he is a public official, it's even harder to tell that you shouldn't trust them. I've had lots of roommates from CL and none of them were psycho. So it's not a matter of her being stupid or careless or "putting herself in that situation". We should not blame the victim here. Not even one tiny little bit.

Yeah, not to mention, the last time gas spiked, they raised to cost of everything across the board to compensate for the gas hike. But when gas returned to normal, the cost of everything else did not go down with it. Have you ever seen the brain scans of someone who has done cocaine for a lengthy period of time? (Google image: "brain on coke") Huge portions of the cocaine addict's brain are dead. What we are witnessing with Charlie isn't so much creative bravado as it is extensive brain damage. He is incapable of thinking like a normal person. When that much of your brain is damaged, you don't think like normal people and you certainly don't make rational decisions.
