I can't speak for the Tea Party, but I'm pretty sure the government is the problem, not the solution. The banks are the most heavily regulated industry in the world, and also the richest. Go figure.

"There are people that like the money going to other countries. There are people that see that welfare as keeping us safe. There are people that see the government as keeping Americans safe..." And there are people that call those people "too liberal." The only thing I want the TEA Party to do is to focus on spending, and the need to stop it. Everything else is a wedge issue designed to dilute the original intent.

So, you're belittling Ron Paul, mocking his supporters, then accusing other people of encouraging political division. You might want to rethink some of those team-building skills.

And it never ceases to amaze me how quickly the conversations move from discussing issues, to attacking Paul, then to attacking his supporters.

Now I am confused. The Ron Paul people are saying that the media unfairly attacks him, while you're saying the media unfairly elevates him. Is everybody now a conspiracy theorist?

Yep, but he already knew that he had a huge base of support when he said it. IIRC, even he was astounded at the reaction he got from the moderate Republican conservatives. It's probably a good thing these folks didn't vet their organizers before jumping on board, or their over-the-top distaste for all things Paul would have kept them from attending. At this point, if they want to believe that they did all this spontaneously, I say let them. Reagan said you can accomplish a lot if you don't care who gets the credit. I'm totally on board with that.

Speaking of hijacking - are you watching Herman Cain attract the Tea Party vote? I don't care being attacked. The Republicans lost me during the Bush years, and if they want me back they have to find a better way. IT's that simple. I'm not going to vote for some big government bit of flotsam just to keep Obama out of office. I'm done with that game. But Paul has said consistently that it isn't about him - it's about the message. If these folks need to believe that the small government movement started with them, then let them have that. It doesn't take anything away from the message, and Paul has made it clear that he's not concerned with getting credit for being the messenger. If we can't find common ground, then we'll never find a candidate we can both support. It's really that simple.

This whole debate is silly. My whole TEA Party group is full of people who didn't know who Ron Paul was during the 2007 season, but were originally organized by Ron Paul supporters during the TARP debacle that enabled conservatives to unite on fiscal issues. Like it or not, ROn Paul brought almost all these issues back to the table. If it was not for him, monetary policy wouldn't even be discussed. He is indeed is partly responsible for the genesis of the Tea Party. To claim otherwise is just an exercise in cognitive dissonance - a simple refusal to admit that Ron Paul was right, after all. And if I had addressed the Washington DC Tea Party, and told those throngs that in 2012, they'd be lining up to vote for a Federal Reserve banker who supported TARP, worked on the open borders SPP initiative, and supported universal health care, I would have been booed off the stage. If I had told the voters they were getting ready to vote for a smooth talker, unvetted by the media with no proven government track record, I would have been accusing them of being Obama supporters. And yet, in Herman Cain, we're prepared to do all of those things. It's too bad for America that Paul just doesn't have Cain's charisma.

No, because is arguing the Keynes solution to the Keynes system. The Austrian system is essentially arguing for the end of the Keynes system. Keynes is a lot like socialism. It's a great on paper, but it doesn't allow for the fact that humans are flawed, and will behave as such.

I think the marriage certificate is primarily about property rights, at least as far as the government is concerned. Of course, almost all of the special privileges that automatically some with the paper can be duplicated for additional expense by gay or unmarried couples. Except the right to dig into your deceased spouse's leftover social security benefits, of course.
