Atheist Revolution : Bernie Sanders or Joe Biden: Decision Time

These sort of competitions is about heart. Joe Biden doesn't wake up in the morning saying to himself "I want to be President more than anything else." He's the sort of guy who goes parasailing when he gets attacked and doesn't run up the score even when the polls say he's winning. Sanders may nota wake up wanting to be President, but he does have the ringing of economic and political justice ringing in his ears. That being said, I've written before that I never thought Sanders or Warren would be the Dem's choice. I've also said Biden would never be President. Of course, the economy could tank and change Biden's chances. But probably not. The smart money is still on Trump in 2020, unfortunately.

The reason why Biden is winning the nomination is due to the number of endorsements he has from other Democratic politicians. That will mean nothing in the general election. Biden doesn't wake up in the morning wanting to be President. He doesn't have the drive. Sanders? That guy wakes up eager to do the work. That means a lot. Sanders would get more done. He would use executive orders more aggressively than Biden. We've seen what Trump has done with them. Unfortunately, that's how things get done these days.

Atheist Revolution : A Brief Review of It Follows

I saw the movie on Netflix with my girlfriend. I thought it was OK - an homage to a certain time and place. There were definitely places I made fun of the characters or the choices the creative team made.

Atheist Revolution : The Left is Helping Trump

I watched Trump during the election and one of the many reasons why the guy won is that he knows how to insult people in a comical manner: Little Marco, Jeb being a "low energy guy," etc. I'm not against insulting people. However, throwing comments around like racist and misogynist may score points (and clicks) with the liberal base, they aren't going to win over white middle class voters.

Atheist Revolution : That\'s Not a Threat

I will say this. if someone tells me I should be dragged outside and shot, then I'll respond. There was a situation a few years ago when someone stated on a Humanist Facebook page I should be killed for burning The God Delusion. Fine. I didn't call the cops or anything like that because it wasn't a death threat. I did respond. Seeing it was a public forum I grabbed a picture of the guy and memed the fuck out of him. Actions have consequences.

Atheist Revolution : Why Do Atheists Eat Babies?

Atheist Revolution : The Need for Rational Voices

People shouldn't look at blogging primarily as a way of affecting the greater society. That is the path to madness. I have written thousands of pieces and each and every one I did for me. If they made a few people smile or think that's great. The virtuous act is done because it is a virtuous act -- no positive feedback should be expected. If anything, if you're doing good work expect a kick in the teeth.
I took the test. Hillary was my top match, and Jill Stein was only a few points lower. The quiz reminds me of when I was dating and using OkCupid.
Atheist Revolution : How Religious is Mississippi?

Atheist Revolution : Hemant Mehta on the 2016 Reason Rally

"It was a chance to meet other atheists, hear inspiring speeches, and feel like part of the majority..." - from Hemant's article. My main reason for going was to help destigmatize atheists and atheism. There aren't many depictions in the media of large groups of atheists, and that can lead politicians to ignore us. Meeting other atheists was pretty cool. I have been reading Atheist Rabbi off and on for years and got to meet him (and made him laugh -- that was my crowning achievement of the event). Inspiring speeches? Meh. Not so much for me. There is magic at live events, don't get me wrong. However, the prose has to be freaking fantastic for me to even get a half chubby on. Part of the majority? I think that is the fundamental reason why I don't typically go to events like this. Being in the majority just makes me feel, well, dumb. Really, really dumb. I know it's a cognitive fallacy -- a reversal of argumentum ad populum. And it's something I want to get over, but it's tough.
Atheist Revolution : Is There a Minimum Blog Post Length for SEO?

I think a better question is "How can I get more eyes on my post?" To that I'd recommend writing good titles to posts and forming good relationships to other people in your community. Sure, writing good content is important, too. However, a lot of people write great that never gets shared. And that's what you want, people to share your material. That way your success isn't bound to search engines.
