Flickrista : Do you want open comments on photos?

Sounds good. I think a large group of our visitors might feel the same way.

I really like the voting system too but it would be great if a larger amount of our visitors actually voted on photos. We currently have around 900 unique visitors per day but photos still only get 4-5 votes. I'm playing with the idea of going from a 1-5 star vote to a more streamlined "I love this photo" vote, sort of like the single vote option on Digg.com where you can "digg" each story. The idea is that simply clicking a button to vote for photos you like would be easier than deciding if the photo deserves 1,2,3,4 or 5 stars. What do you think Sander?

Thanks for the tip. Flickrista runs on Wordpress with quite a bit of custom code and plugins I've written. The Intense Debate plugin we're already using for comments has some great features for comment moderation so I doubt that we'll need more plugins, but it might be worth taking a look at.

Flickrista : Open thread: What do you want to see on Flickrista?

That might be a good idea. I don't think we would publish tutorials directly on Flickrista but linking to interesting articles about photography either between featured photos or in the sidebar could probably work.

I'll look into it!

/Film : More Images From The Lovely Bones

Heavenly Creatures is a great movie, but Peter Jackson has already made not one, but three better films - Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and Return of the King. If it wasn't for Jack Black's constant over acting, I'd even include King Kong as being a better movie than Heavenly Creatures.

/Film : Internet Leak Leads To Radical Repairs to McG's Terminator

"A movie that depends on its plot to succeed probably isn’t a very good film in the first place" I'm sorry, but are you stupid? Without a good story a movie won't ever be any good. Special effects and cool scenes are fun but can't carry a movie for 2 hours. The plot is the key to a great movie. Most stories are meant to be seen or read once, and personally, I love a great twist and hate it when people insist on spreading spoilers. How can you possibly appreciate the art of storytelling if you want to know the ending before seeing a movie?
