Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Paul Blart: Mall Cop (Review)

Haha! Believe me... it was still difficult to write that about Zohan and Chuck/ Larry even knowing my intentions. The sad thing is, Mall Cop has been a huge success in the USA. It's grossed $138 million in the US alone, and was number 1 at the box office for two weeks in January. For a film so widely panned by critics, that's nothing short of incredible to survive at the top for that long... Most frightening is that a sequel is already in the works.

No Craig, I haven't read the book. I can only hope it treats it's characters more realistically and makes for a more fulfilling and meaningful ending. From what Blake says, it did just that! I might have to check it out...

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Between The Aisles - Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, Eclipse Director & Trailer for Ink

Good to see Rourke back in the game, however, I doubt Iron Man will showcase his talent like The Wrestler. Then again, I still stand firmly by my opinion that Iron Man is grossly overrated. Ink looks great though!

Yeah, you're right about Alien 3. I saw have the Quadrilogy, so I saw the extended edition first before watching the theatrical. Although, I'm sure you'll disagree Ramon, but Aliens is the best of the series.

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Watchmen (Review)

That's a shame, Tom. It's certainly a love hate film. Critics are VERY divided over the film. However, I really loved the themes and style of the film....in fact, the film creeps back into my mind all the time. Still, I totally agree that The Dark Knight (I assume that's what you mean when you say Batman Returns, as I didn't compare Watchmen to Tim Burton's film) Is a far better film in most aspects.

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Between The Aisles - TOKYO!, Star Trek & Where The Wild Things Are

Wow! Awesome report. So many great trailers this week - Terminator, Star Trek and Harry Potter all look surprisingly awesome. However, the most exciting news is Nolan's next film, which sounds terrific even from that little summary. I'm just so glad he's not diving straight back into Batman, as I love all his psychological films like Prestige and Memento. This sounds like another one of those....CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I enjoyed it as a newcomer to the Watchmen universe, but it certainly has its flaws. I reviewed it here: <a href="http://cutprintreview.com/watchmen-review/" target="_blank">http://cutprintreview.com/watchmen-review/

Welcome to the team, Ivy :D I can't wait for an Arrested Development movie! I've only just got into the show (a little late I know). Also, i'm not surprised Monsters Inc. is in sequel talks....if Cars can get a sequel, any Pixar film should get one.

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Fear Me Not [Den Du Frygter] (Review)

Thank you Blake for such kind words! I haven't seen Blindness yet, as it has yet to make an Aussie release (very soon, though), but I've been ever intrigued by it for two reasons: a) because it has had such a hugely mixed response and b) it has a great poster. I totally agree; it's very hard to see great concepts not get the treatment they deserve. Don't get me wrong, Fear Me Not is solid film worth seeing, yet I'd be lying if I said I didn't want it to be something more.

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Spotlight on... Hugh Jackman

It always makes me chuckle when Dr Cox's dislike for Hugh gets a mention on Scrubs, given he is an actor who is hard to really hate. I'm really hoping Hugh can pull off the Oscars, and that if it gets bad ratings (as it always does), he's not held accountable.

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Spotlight on... Hugh Jackman

...and that is exactly why I have you on board! More often than not I let the scathing critic inside of me speak out instead of the suppressed optimist . Your opinion helps balance mine out. Although, I think criticism is always important as long as it's valid and supported with reasons. It's a cut-throat industry, and if people are not capable of taking criticism on the chin, ignoring it or growing from it, I think they might want to rethink their career!

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Spotlight on... Hugh Jackman

Do I sense a bit of Aussie bias, Elise? Haha, at least you do admit it when you say "has the ability to make females of every age swoon (including myself)". Although, I'm not certain Hugh's career is set in stone, or at it's peak. I have a uneasy feeling his Oscar presentation will flop, just as bad as Australia did at the box office. It's ulikely to be his fault either, as he was chosen as a wildcard presenter because the ceremony had been low in ratings for years. Deception was also a below average film, making his last real success back in 2006 in The Prestige. So how is he coming out of this dry spell? Returning to the one franchise that gave him a name in the biz, X-men. Seems a bit of a desperate bid too me. Don't get me wrong, I like Hugh Jackman. But I certainly would not say his career is going from strength to strength at the moment. But as this post makes exemplifies, I am a complete pessimist! In any case, nice feature article and I look forward to reading more in the future!

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : My Bloody Valentine 3D (review)

I saw this last night. It's your typical slasher film really, made a whole lot more fun because of 3D. It just seemed to jump from scene to scene, where everyone convineniently crossed paths, before the killer came along. Rinse, repeat. The acting sometimes made this into a bit of a comedy aswell, Ackles held his own though. Overall though, I love the depth RealD 3D gives these films. It makes for a far more visually engrossing experience (the caves looked great), and really benefits the horror genre. In 2D mind you, I couldn't recommend this film.

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Rachel Getting Married (Review)

Unfortunately Craig, that's the only aspect of the film really worth seeing. Although, many critics have loved this film for a lot more, so you might find yourself falling in line with them. I (and Blake obviously) found it tedious to watch and unrewarding. Thanks for your comments, Craig and Blake!

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Zack and Miri Make a Porno (Review)

I just felt that the potential for laughs with such a daring premise was never quite there, or consistent enough, especially when the romantic sub-plot came in...although Smith did do an admirable job, a film like this could have gone so incredibly south and been totally tasteless. For that, he deserves credit. Oh and Katina, feel free to post up your review!!! The more diverse the opinions, the better.

Cut Print Review | Movie Reviews and Commentary : Ghost Town (Review)

It can't be stated enough just how much the cinema atmosphere can affect one's experience in a film, especially a comedy. I saw this at a media screening, which I generally find to be the best audience for dramas, but comedies tend to be far less suited. Laughing is infectius and at times i felt concius of laughing aloud in Ghost Town, as it seems some people were not as amused as i was. Whist i tend not to let this affect my judgement of the film, it undeniably still does.... seeing this with your family, as you said, would have probably made for a far more easy going cinema atmosphere than what i experienced. Still, I did enjoy this film regardless, but it often felt solely for Ricky Gervais' performance, which in itself is not enough to see my hugely praise the film. Just take a look at the credits and you'll see that there's a lot more people involved than just Gervais! Thanks again for dropping by, Sam.
