To me, that means it was not racial but orchestrated to appear racial. The narrative is very simple: Malaysians are stupid, mindlesss savages. That is their culture. And that is why we need repressive laws and secrecy laws, which incidentally allow us to practically get away with murder.
What is our counter-narrative?
My question is to what extent this was spontaneous and to what extent orchestrated by hidden hands to distract from 1MDB. Researcher Sophie Lemière has documented strong ties between UMNO and Pekida, and the fact that Pekida showed up at moment's notice suggests that they were on standby. Orchestration I think should be the main question. The means of orchestration are of course important but secondary.
Perkasa is funded by Putrajaya and BTN is under the PM's Department. You are asking the BN government to rein themselves in?
Please curb BTN and JAKIM in the Prime Minister's Department first. They are part of the root cause.
Same old story? Create incident via 'hired' thugs, then claim that crackdown needed on ordinary citizens to 'curb violence' or whatever. We're not buying it. Please probe background of all the thugs, especially links to Pekida and UMNO.
Highly irresponsible statement by a minister. Essentially saying that violence is OK as long as you come from UMNO and can say you were 'provoked'. I'm afraid we'll see more such incidents and perhaps worse ones.
So you mean it was used for his party, to buy the last elections? Please clarify what you mean by 'not for personal use'. Thank you.
And the US is making 'exceptions' for Malaysia so that the TPP can go through. Just shows where Obama's priorities are. Trade, power, image over human rights. Thank you Mr. President for considering Malaysians less human than Americans.
Nur Jazlan, just one question: WHY IS UMNO/PUTRAJAYA FUNDING THESE GROUPS?
Forty years ago hardly any women in Malaysia of whatever religion were wearing headscarves. This is part of the Arabisation of our culture. But of course it's good that Hannah Yeoh showed respect to the recently imported 'Arab-Muslim' culture in this situation.
