Meh, that Rares is hated is a believe i cultivated for several years now, if you believe something for so long it just seems like the absolute truth. That some people in the fandom did everything to reinforce this notion does not really help. But Rarity IS more popular now, so it seems to be time to throw that conviction overboard. It seems like Rarity fans where always stronger in number than i thought, like i said, that irrational thought about her beeing hated so much clouded my judgement. And now our numbers seem to be growing. And even if it feels somewhat strange and almost surreal, it really starts to make me happy. =3 Soon we will rule the world! Everyone will be fabulous! The group may be there just for trolling (And even this i doubt.), but did you read the comments? "If she was real, I'd punch her and break her nose. Then I'd be like this =D" "watching new episode of mlp and so far the people that write this is really making rarity look like a bitch.So happy =)" And i mean its not just that group, ist just everywhere... Or is it not? God i just don't know anymore.... =/ It was so easy in season one to three, Rarity was absolutely loathed and just very few people liked her, and that is something you can't deny. And now everyone says she is one of the most liked Ponys in the show.... HOW?.... What changed? I don't get it! She has always been the bitch, the slavedriver, the manipulator, the stupid, greedy whore for most of the fandom. Rarity treats Spike like dirt. Rarity is not generous. Rarity lies all the time. Yadda-Yadda-Yadda. Im just so incredibly frustrated because i just DON'T KNOW what is true anymore! You know that cave allegory from..... i don't remember.... some greek philosopher? A guy lived his whole life in a cave and never saw the Sun, never experienced anything than his dark hole. Then some day he goes to the entrance and sees the outside world for the first time, and he is terrified. The light is much too bright for his sensitive eyes, the grass feels strange under his feet, and all the unknown sounds and sights scare him. So after some time he goes back into his cave and never comes out again. He rather lives his miserable life in his cave. His dark, wet, uncomfortable cave. He fears the Sun and lush plants way too much. Other people who never lived in a cave would not understand him. They love the Sun, the birds, the smell of fresh cut grass and such things, and would never trade all of this for a cave. But for the man in his cave, his life so far was safe, and he could depend on it. So he doesn't want all these new things. Things he suspects are dangerous, or just illusions, or lies. I probably got the allegory all wrong, but whatever. Im that man. I had always the impression that the character in this show that i like the most is just hated by most others. And it gave me some form of twisted comfort, some safety, like the dark, wet cave. It was not pretty like the Sun and whatnot, but i could DEPEND on it. I like Rarity and some others do too. But the majority hates her. Not pretty but dependable. If some comic with Rarity pops up, i knew that it was mocking her before i read it. If a new episode with her aired, i knew that people would tear her to shreds afterwards. And now is seems that people love her all of the sudden, and it feels like getting grabbed and thrown out of my cave, right into the Sun, into the grass, and into the fresh air. Things i never could imagine being real, things that could only be true in my dreams. And now i sit there and search for sepents in the tall, lush, green grass, and wonder if the colorful, juicy fruits hanging from the trees could be poisened. Still wondering if all of that is some kind of ruse, or lie. And thats the problem: When is see someone say somthing positive about Rares, it may make me happy at first, but i still wonder if there is some hidden insult intended. Because it cannot be true that people like her suddenly. It just feels.... wrong. Compliments i read turn into critique in my head. Critique into hate. And hate in something worse... Because it just cannot be any other way in my head, not after all that time. "Have you tried to talk to those that you consider as Rarity haters? You should try it, maybe you will get a surprise. " Well... i did try... or didn't i? *scratchhead* I think it was mostly debating, i don't know if that counts as "talking". I don't remember anything that suprised me though. You know, i try to avoid fansites like EQD lately, because i fear i turned finally into the kind of person i disliked so much. Some kind of hater/troll.... *sigh* Because i know that i can be a real arse in an debate, not by insulting someone, but rather through some kind of passive-aggressiveness and arrogance.

And i have no problem with people who have Rares as their least favorite of the Mane6, just because you like something the least in a group does not mean you dislike it, im aware of that, but somehow it just sticks in my head that there a a whole host of people who just hate her guts. "Rarity has many fans. She is one of the most loved members of the Mane Six. " She has certainly a very passionate fanbase that loves her to bits, but one of the most beloved of the Mane6? Isn't she rather disliked by the majority and the passion of her (few) fans balance this out? She has almost always held the last, or second last place in every poll ever. There might have been some exceptions lately which i can't really explain, but i do not think much changed in that regard. Hell, she had together with R.D. the most votes of the Mane6 in an worst pony poll EQ did half a year ago... And while R.D. has many people who can't stand her, she has much more fans than Rares. I don't know how you could get the impression that Wawity is liked so much.... Do you have some kind of statistics that back that up? I mean, i wouldn't complain.... *Sigh* There i go again. Im really sorry for ranting on you, i just saw offense where none was intended, again. Seems to be my special talent. I just seem so see me as a lone island of rarilove in an ocean of hate, struggeling to keep the waves at bay that try to roll over it. I know thats bullshit, and Rarity is not nearly as hated as i often imagine her to be. But sometimes i just have a depressive episode and everything turns to shit. That is ultimately the reason i tend to distance myself from the fandom lately, im just to reckless in my protection of Rarity, who i feel is often treated like a bag of dirt. I know thats propably not true, but try to tell me that if i am at my worst. Im really, really sorry. Honestly sorry.

So you dont think Rarity is a bad pony, but you think that she would slap her sister? How does that not make her a bad pony? And even if she would "lose control for a moment", it would not be any better. Do you have any sympathy with a wifebeater whose "hand slipped"? Im a huge Rarity fan, maybe one of the biggest, but if she would ever rise her hoof against Sweetie, or any other cmc, or any of the Mane6, or Spike, or any other innocent beeing, that would be it. That would be something i could never forgive that character. I would throw all my Rarity merch in the trash and hate her forever. And im usually pretty slow to hate someone, or something. She could regret it until the end of the world, try to make up for it in later episodes, i would not fucking care. After that i would never watch the show again, because a show whose writers would let such retarded things happen would not be worth bothering for me. I absolutely DESPISE violence, always have. Its the tool of idiots who are too cowardly or too stupid to solve their problems in a civilised way. People who cannot think of any other solution than to lash out against things they are too dense to understand. Is that how you see Rarity? The Rarity who didnt even slap Blue Blood who treated her like a dog, or Suri who stole her work and almost her future, or Fluttershy after she said everything Rarity loves is trash, and her life is worthless. She didnt slap any of these, but her little sister she would? Why only her little sister? Is she too cowardly to hit grown ups? Does she have such a low opinion of Sweetie? Because that is what you say to someone you hit. "You are trash, im not going to bother speaking to you, you arent worthy of my attention, so im just going to hit you in the face because i cant be bothered to explain what you did wrong." Like i said, they could just remove her from the show after something like this happened, because if i would be unwilling to forgive her for such a thing, you can certainly figure out what the rest of the fandom would do. The same fandom that utterly despises her already. Her already tiny fandom would vanish completely, every time she would show up in an episode Hasbro would be bombarded with E-Mails, asking to remove that childbeater from the show. The Internet would overflow with Rarity hate-art and forumposts, even more than it already does. Im curious... what else do you think would happen? Do you think even if Sweetie could forgive Rarity for slapping her, the bronies ever would? "All of the Mane 6 are amazing. No idea how anyone could actually hate any of them, unless they're just trolling.. Yeah. Nopony, or dragon deserves the intense hatered that is sometimes thrown at them, and the seven main characters and the cmc deserve it the least. But maybe im just odd in that respect.... i mean i dont even hate Diamond Tiara, Suri or Flim and Flam, or whatever antagonist. I think they are douchebags, but hate them? Hate is such a destructive emotion, not just for others, but for oneself the most. The world would be so much better without it. Hating is easy. Tolerance and trying to understand and appreciate someone is much harder, and just so many seem to take the easy route.... Or what seems to be the easy route. But hate will always bite youself in the arse in the end.

And this right there is the core of the poodle! (Is that a thing in english?) So many people seem to think that Rarity uses Spike intentionally, manipulates his love out of pure maliciousness, and like you said, that is just not true. As with the thing of Spike beeing over his crush..... we dont really know.... for me it seems that Spike was pretty unfazed with the prospect of Rarity maybe getting a Boyfriend.... But maybe in some future episode with some other author it will look completely differend. Lets just say continuity in this show has some hickups sometimes.

I dont know how Spike has been "slaved" here, wasn't the only physical thing he did in this episode to push the table with the ponyville model around? Whats so horrible about that? The other mane6 had to do more physical work then Spike did , they too had their tasks to help with the celebration. Where they slaves too? And to be "friend-zoned" he would have been a real romantic option for Rarity first, which he never was. Imho she always saw him as a dear friend who she could trust and who would help her if she asked nicely. I dont know how that would be using him. You ask a friend for help, and he helps you if he wants. Spike attraction to Rares has always been the crush of a child, and now he just seems to be over it. It had to happen someday. I dont know, maybe im stupid, but i find the whole "Rarity abuses Spike" stuff greatly exaggerated.
