Oh, forgot to mention Koichi Sakamoto is doing a Hurricane Polimar movie (tokusatsu film based on a 70s anime by Tatsunoko). It looks better than Power Rangers, so hit me up with that.

I already mentioned in your Top Ten Movies of 2016 list that both The Handmaiden and Moonlight are on my list for 2017 (again, Europeans get stuff pretty late), so that's two down, add Hidden Figures to that and you've got three.

Other than that... from your list, Bob, I'd pick Guardians Vol. 2, John Wick 2, LEGO Batman and Spider-Man. Not sure about the rest, but I'll see if I can check out at least Free Fire, looks kind of cool. Anything beyond is wait-and-see for me.

Interesting picks and both Moonlight and The Handmaiden (called "The Pickpocket" here in Germany) are things I look forward to in 2017. Because we always get the small stuff late. :/

I agree with all of the above. The Switch seems like a device made for this generation of players - people with a desire for high mobility instead of sheer power for the price of losing said mobility.

Nintendo also seems to do things right in other aspects. If the rumours are true, the Switch will ditch proprietary ports in favour of SD card support (well, Nintendo had THAT right since the Wii) and an USB-C port for charging and video transfer on the tablet section. Should the latter be true, it would at least partially solve the battery life issue since you could hook up any power bank via a standardized cable, and it'll make manufacturing even system-specific peripherals (like a dock containing a battery for charging the tablet while playing) much, much easier.

Rumour also has it Nintendo'll ditch region locking. Which is always a good idea and I never understood why they introduced it on the 3DS. Now the only thing missing to make it perfect is for Nintendo to tie your digital purchases to your NNID instead of a specific system.

Angry Birds is a massive franchise AND from what I've heard, it's targeting kids instead of teens and above. So no surprise it makes money, considering there is no other "kids movie" out right now afaik. That and a fair amount of people seem to think less of Angry Birds as a 'game' and more as a 'thing on the phone'.

I haven't seen Warcraft yet, but the buzz so far seems to be fairly negative. And I personally am really not excited for AssCreed.

"Why Get So Angry?"

Why indeed. Never understood the whole kerfuffle about the Ghostbusters being women now. Never understood that - the Ghostbusters are a COMPANY, not a superhero with a specific, gender-fixed identity like, dunno, Thor maybe (yes, I am aware of the genderswap thing Marvel did). Yeah, doing a "passing-the-torch"-thing might've soothed some people's minds and, they tried that back in '97 with Extreme Ghostbusters (Yes, I remember that show. My mind is weird like that), which, incidentally, had a female Buster on the team. So, why is this a big deal? Can somebody, ANYBODY explain with an argument outside of "tradition"?

That being said, the trailer was rubbish and I have no qualms admitting that, though I also need to admit that I will probably still go see it if it's in theatres in English.

And what's up with The Rock of all people wanting to remake BTiLC? Is he running out of offers post-Fast&Furious?

Take your time, MB. Fewer people than you think care about uploading stuff regularly and more care about the stuff actually being good. Looking forward to RTG on Supes.

It's hard to like anything DC does these days. New52? Kinda rubbish, plus the questionable "surveys" DC did pre-reboot. DC TV Shows? Lazy as all hell - The Flash's first season hit on pretty much the same plot points as Arrow's (to the point where I'd consider it verbatim). And the DCCU? Morose and angsty for its own sake.

Went to The Escapist again today after almost half a year of abstinence and discovered you were no longer there. That's sad in one way not so much in the other.

For you see, the reason I left was... you. Not because you have political views or opinions that coincide or diverge from mine - I am not of such petty mind that these things drive me to instant abandonment. No, if I had to use one term that describes the feeling I got from your content over the course of the last year it'd be "bitter". I cannot pinpoint a single moment in the course of 2014 when that started, though I'd say it happened around the time you reviewed TASM2.

Both "The Big Picture" and "Escape to the Movies" had a certain energy to them that made them watchable to me. And while we can debate some of your vocal missteps, the draining of said energy was what left me to find no more joy in your creations.

There's no need to cry over spilt milk, so I'll leave it at that. Here's to hoping you find your mojo again. And the bright future that comes with it.

"Gaming is in a pretty stagnant, going-through-the-motions place"

I'm going to say something highly subjective here: In some genres, it has actually taken a step back. See most prominently: "niche" jRPG.
