When I heard him, I was embarrassed, mortified and also enlightened. Those ears hear everything and repeat even more so. What was funny then (not now) is that he actually used the word in context and my friends were "impressed" by his ability to use the word in a sentence. That's what made it funny. What makes it sad, is that he used the word because I had said it in front of him. My language usage cleaned up very quickly following the episode and, thankfully, he is a little gentleman now. I don't care that Modern Family uses this technique, it is what it is and I cannot change that. When I watch it tonight (it's TIVO'd) I'll probably laugh; however, I guarantee I will reflect on my own shortcomings as a parent and that's what makes me stronger and better at being a Dad.
