Big Journalism : SlutGate: Obama's Manufactured Media Tactic

The first step has already happened, through federal funds going to the state insurance pools, some of which fund abortions. Both sides realized this even before the original bill was even passed; it was one more of the bill's many abominations.

Big Government : In Memoriam: Andrew Breitbart (1969-2012)

This is horrible news!! Andrew, we need you, and no one can replace you! I am heartbroken over this. I hope that many of those who worked with Andrew will carry on his work and expand his slate of Big sites as he intended.

Big Government : What Do Democrats Have Against Guns and Gun Rights?

"What do Democrats have against guns (and gun rights)? Do they hate freedom or do they simply want more power over our lives?" There are really two answers: For the politicians and elites, the answer is "both of the above." For the average Democrat American citizen/voter, the answer is, like with most issues, they let their emotions trump logic and critical thinking. Because guns are dangerous and are used in really ugly crimes and wars, they have bad emotional feelings about guns and are very uncomfortable with the idea of *anyone* having one, and they think if we could just make laws against them and ban them, problem solved.

Big Government : Sunday Open Thread: WTC Edition

Of course I did! It doesn't sound like you did though! The link said that version of the bill wasn't even passed, and second of all, the wording is NOT a provision to microchip anyone. It's saying that if a person gets a device, including implanted ones like pacemakers, it goes into a registry. That's a far cry from "a provision to RFID/micro chip all Americans" as you claimed.

Not true about the microchipping. I hate the Obamacare bill as much as anyone, but this rumor is false. http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/microchip.... We don't do ourselves any favors by spreading misinformation. There's enough TRUE crap in the bill to make our case!

Big Government : Nancy Pelosi: Vicar of Contraception

Thank you for explaining it so well--I was going to make an explanatory post myself but now I don't have to! :o) I am a non-Catholic NFP user and it really irritates me when NFP is confused with or called the rhythm method. Such misinformation causes people to assume that NFP doesn't work well (as the very misleading WebMD link says, only 75-87% accurate, but NFP is much better than that) and will make you have 15 kids. Wrong! NFP is healthy, educational, free, and you never have to wonder if your hormonal contraceptives are preventing the implantation of embryos.

Big Peace : North Korea Announces Kim Jong Il Has Died

Sadly I don't think it's likely, because the whole country has been brainwashed for 60 years and denied any kind of real information about the outside world. That kind of uninterrupted propaganda has deep effects on people. They can be starving and living in a country that's a prison, but still worship "Dear Leader" and hate America and S. Korea, blaming the free countries for their problems rather than their dictator and his brutal regime. I hope I am wrong about their liberation, but I think any hopes of a free(er) NK will probably come to as much fruition as any hopes about the results of the so-called Arab Spring.

Big Government : Obama’s 'Green' Initiatives: It Pays (BIG) to Be an Obama Bundler.

"The cronyism continues, and only outrage from the American people can stop it." This is true. However, I have no hope that we will put a stop to it, because the majority of Americans fit into one of the following categories: 1. don't know about it (thanks to both the media and American apathy towards finding out the truth on their own) 2. don't care, especially if they are getting their own government goodies (after all, all this corruption is just on "the rich's" dime and no skin off their own nose) Get back to the Constitution and most of this will be fixed. Which is exactly why the vast majority of federal politicians don't want to get back to the Constitution.

Big Government : New Hampshire's Union Leader Endorses Gingrich for GOP Nomination

Agreed. Newt is a philanderer (multiple times), and if you cheat on the woman you promised to be faithful to your whole life long and which you supposedly love above all others, then why on earth would you be faithful to the American people, to whom you have far less attachment and love? Newt says the right things. I just don't think we can trust him to follow through on many of them. Especially since his past statements show he wants to team up with Nancy Pelosi to fight man-made global warming and he also said he supports the individual mandate for health care. And in NY-23, he fought to the bitter end for ultra-RINO Dede Scozzafava over true conservative Doug Hoffman. It's party over principles for Newt.

Big Government : My Time in the Epicenter of the Minnesota 'Occupy Together' Movement

"They all talked about corporate greed and how both sides were maintaining the status quo, acting as puppets of the wealthy. One man said, “As long as both sides get paid by the same people, nothing will change. We aren’t a democracy by the people anymore; it is controlled by the corporations. Take the money out of the system or you are just spinning your tires. " This part, at least, I can agree with. BOTH parties are all about cronyism. The Republican establishment is about big money special interests and maintaining the status quo just as much as the Dems are, and most politicians care about retaining their cushy jobs, not what's right for We the People. When ordinary people try to change things they are facing a huge uphill battle. However, Danielle is correct that the OWS protestors' curatives for this problem are all wrong.

No no no!!! Christie is good for NJ, as conservative as you can probably get there, and using his position there to take on the unions and Planned Parenthood. While those things are awesome, his other positions on the 2nd amendment, illegal immigration/amnesty, and appointing an Islamist judge show that he is only part conservative. He should not run because we need someone who is a solid conservative on all those issues leading our country. Please stay in NJ and keep helping that troubled state.

Not so small is his sitting with Nancy Pelosi on the couch to say we all need to get together and do something about climate change. Or his personal life closet full of skeletons that would make him a hypocrite if he embraced any of the family values/traditional values that any Republican will need to embrace to win.
