Hah, agreed. I say "public speaking" in the sense that he knows how to write a speech in a way that convinces people that he's brilliant. He was used as an example in my public speaking textbook >.<
I could never trust anything he said because I recognized the techniques that he used to write his speeches. The fact that he can't look away from the teleprompter gives me even less reason to trust him, because he knows that if he improvises one word his carefully crafted speech will lose its effect.

And I do like a person who will look me in the eye...

Hey, I'm glad to see I'm not the only young one here :-) I just started getting serious about this stuff this past semester. And already I can tell I'm getting better at backing up my position. What has helped me alot is listening to talk radio http://thebigtalker1210.com/pages/14047.php on that website is a link you can listen live, especially during typical work hours Mon-Fri. It helped me not only decide what makes sense to me, but also how to express it to others.

I've just recently started reading Dependence on D.C.: The Rise of Federal Control Over the Lives of Ordinary Americans by Charlotte A. Twight. It's written by a professor of economics, so it can get a bit thick with terminology, but she tries to explain it as simply as she can. It's worth a shot.

It'll also help if you have a friend or someone you know who believes the exact opposite of you when it comes to politics, have a little debate with them every now and then. It'll give you practice expressing yourself and also be a way to gauge your progress.

He'll find a way to justify it, because sheeple still believe he is their savior. He has them thinking health care is in such sad shape that if we don't enact his plan right away the world will end. They will accept anything he suggests to fix a crisis that he pretends he didn't create. 'Tis the danger of a leader who is far too skilled in public speaking.

He chose to use the word "unsustainable" for a reason. He wants people to panic and come to the conclusion that whatever he tries to do next is a brilliant solution. And I bet his "solution" is going to be a fresh bundle of new taxes and tax increases. And all those sheeple who panicked are going to say "yes, these taxes are good because we have to pay off this unsustainable debt." But the money collected through these taxes will not be used to pay off the deficit. It will go straight towards funding that trillion-something dollar budget. Oh, and the budget still won't be paid off.

Here's an idea:
So this plan is going to cost over a trillion dollars that you don't have.
And you are having a difficult time finding something to tax to raise the money.
Maybe that's a sign that this plan shouldn't happen.
STOP LOOKING FOR MORE THINGS TO TAX
AND
DON'T SPEND MONEY YOU DON'T HAVE.
The government should set an example for us all and work within the budget they have.
Obama told the public that credit cards aren't free money.
Well, my hard-earned money isn't free money for the government to take and use.

I just found this book in a library book sale--withdrawn from circulation. I haven't gotten to read much of it yet, but it offers an interesting explanation for how we got to where we are today. It was published in 2002, but it's still highly relevant to what's going on now. I recommend reading it if you can find it.

Put up flyers in your area. Something that clearly states WHY the climate change movement is b.s. Something that points out how our attempt to control the climate is like trying to stop the Mississippi River with a single twig. Anything to express your opinion in a respectful way. Spread the word. Wake up a few more people who are under Al Gore's hypnosis.

I turned all my lights on for "earth hour" too. Funny thing is, you couldn't tell the difference. Seemed like my town missed the memo. Either that or nobody cared.
