Design Happens : Freebie Fridays: HGTV Dream Home Edition

Of course I know exactly what I'd wear, as I visualize myself opening the door with this outfit on, and in fact it hangs on my closet door as a daily reminder that I am the winner, and of what I will be wearing when HGTV rings my doorbell! It is a purple sweater vest with a ruffled high neck undershirt and sleeves sewn in. I picked it up at Kohl’s in November and it matches nicely with a black pair of slacks. As for what I will wear at the house presentation in April/May.....it will follow the style of the home; southwestern of course! My ensemble will consist of a black chiffon long skirt with beautiful pink roses, paired with a pink long-sleeved shirt and pink denim vest....and oh, of course....my cowboy boots!

Hi SueAbq. We were on the last tour of the day - 4:45pm. And yes, it felt a bit rushed, which is probably a good thing because had been left to my own timing, I would have stayed all night! LOL.

Thanks Barbara! I'm not a writer, however have contemplated it often; this house has a way of bringing out the best in all things.

It's a home that lends itself to being an observatory of nature, yet still exhibits the luxury of an elegant masterpiece. While elaborately decorated, it is functional and comfortable and offers every modern convenience imaginable....and then some. As we walked from room to room my husband and I could picture family gatherings, holiday celebrations, as well as quite evenings alone sitting next to one of the outside fireplaces with a glass of wine, watching the sunset, and continuing on into the night stargazing. What the videos and pictures do not convey is the way that the home blends into its surroundings; as if it was meant to be there for eons, yet still a beautiful architectural accomplishment. Each room has been given as many windows as possible so that they may act as picture frames; to detail and showcase the mountains that are the amazing backdrop of this home. It is quiet, peaceful, warm, and a safe haven for the soul.

OMG....how would I answer that question without writing a small novel? Hmmmm.....spectacular, stunning, amazing, breathtaking are all words that are appropriate, yet do not do it justice. Driving into the subdivision with the feelings and excitement of a child going to meet Santa Clause for the first time, and an anticipation that has mounted with every one of the 12 hours that it took to make the drive...I can honestly say that it was all that, and so much more!

PFG: In answer to your question: This dream home has already become a source of inspiration, so I guess you could say I am already the winner! Having been inside on the tour has inspired me to set the boundaries of my expectations at a much higher level....to dream, and dream big as anything.....absolutely anything and everything is possible! Once you see it; you will want to keep it.

Hey Gail.....my husband and I drove from just outside of Houston, Texas to New Mexico this weekend to tour the house, and I absolutely have to agree with you, the island is stunning; in fact, the entire home is simply amazing! A big round of applause, and a "standing ovation" goes to the 2010 Dream Home team for creating this masterpiece!! We also send best wishes to the East Mountain High School on getting their new bus; which is what the proceeds from the HGTV Dream Home tours will provide. They are delightful people and made for a memorable experience!
