Roman Reigns doesn't even sell Cena-level merch, and at times many other people out-sell him. At the moment, Rusev is #1, I believe. For a while, it was New Day.

He didn't phone it in, he 'worked' smart. As TeamFarrell explained just this past week, about WM 32 specifically, Brock was placed in a bad situation at Mania 32, in the middle of the card with a Dean Ambrose that was increasingly becoming more irrelevant, and there were other matches that were going to follow up that were obviously going to overshadow him (such as Shane's bump). Rather than kill himself in a match that was going to be forgotten two hours laters anyways, he didn't bother, for which I don't blame him at all. He had a perfectly decent mid card match with Dean, because that's what it was in the context of that show. The original plan for that Mania was Taker-Brock III in a retirement match, but Vince decided to bump that up to HIAC 2015, in order to have Cena-Taker, but Cena got hurt, and Brock got put with Ambrose at the last minute.

As for classic matches:
Cena-Lesnar - Extreme Rules 2012
Punk-Lesnar - Summerslam 2013
Cena-Lesnar - Summerslam 2014
Cena-Rollins-Lesnar - Royal Rumble 2015
Reigns-Lesnar - WM 31
Undertaker-Lesnar - Summerslam 2015
Undertaker-Lesnar 2015 -HIAC 2015
Joe-Lesnar - 2017 (a fantastic but short match, but blame that on Vince and his decision to make Roman-Braun 40+ minutes, and cut the main event short)
Goldberg-Lesnar - WM 33 (an action packed, blockbuster Goldberg style match, probably one of his best)
Fatal Four Way - Summerslam 2017
AJ-Lesnar - Survivor Series 2017

I see plenty of classic matches there, most of which have been well-received by the broad fan base. For someone who works a handful of matches a year, that's nothing short of remarkable.

That was a completely different situation at WM 20. Brock was burnt out, wanted to quit WWE, hated the travel, and swore that he would never return again. Even the WWE said they would never take him back. He was mentally checked out. That was 14 years ago; since then he's basically reinvented himself as a carefree, professional mercenary. He goes to whoever gives him the best deal, and basically does whatever they want. That's one of the reasons why they had him beat Taker's streak, because after 2012-2013, they trusted him.

And yes, it's the 'brand' that draws, but realistically, the brand is only as good as its best stars, and Brock and Cena were the two top stars by far. They used Brock to bump up Network numbers at key moments, such as that Summerslam match with Taker.

How does Doc remain so delusional? He called Brock a 'dumbass' even though he's managed to negotiate (and play Vince like a fiddle) the best contract out of anyone on the roster for probably the most money. That doesn't spell dumbass does it?

The sour grapes over Brock are delicious. He's a star, and he can negotiate a part time contract, get over it. And no. He hasn't 'phoned it in'. He has had a series of classic matches this past run, that isn't 'phoning it in'. And he's been treated as a babyface most of this run. I don't know what show he watches.

And Brock is obviously going to want to possibly come back to wrestling after his short UFC money run (Brock's 41, he isn't going to be doing UFC for more than 1-2 years, he's in it for the Jones money fight and nothing else). The idea that he's going to sabotage the event, or phone it in, and jeopardize a potential money return 2-3 years from now, again, pure fantasy.

There's a 80-95K difference between doing 15-20k and doing 100-100K. You know in countries like the UK (where WWE is far more popular than Australia), they get like 1/10th of the viewers they do in the US, and TNA was actually beating them there for a while.

They can't. They could barely sell out WM 32, and that was sold mostly on Shane/Taker HIAC. They papered over 20,000 seats for that one. That was for a WM and in the US. They aren't the UFC and Connor McGregor or Ronda, where they can set gate records anywhere.

AJ/Brock just happened. It was 10,000x better, had more intrigue and interest and delivered more than Orton/Lesnar.

You must be delusional. Everyone from Flair, to Jericho, to Austin, to Rock, to Ross, to Cornette, etc., has attested to his credentials, and their respect for him. Unless you think those guys are 'nobodies'. Put down the crack pipe, you're embarrassing yourself. He is without question the most respected journalist within the industry, there's a reason why people both inside the business and outside of it (such as mainstream publications such as NYT) go to him when they cover wrestling. Frank Deford - arguably the greatest sports writer ever - spoke very highly of him as well.

It is. He's pretty much the most respected and credible reporter in pro-wrestling. I understand there's some sort of shut-in smark hatefest that goes around these parts against Meltzer, but it's quite frankly very embarrassing.

Actually Meltzer specifically said 'he had heard no talks of a women's Rumble, but that there is no reason why they shouldn't have one with so much female talent on the rosters, and that plans could change'. So there's no need for pointless snide remarks at Meltzer.
