WOODTV.com : Black Friday deals: Best online tools

If you don't feel like shopping on Black Friday and are still looking for a good deal then I found a great gift. I bought a Straight Talk cell phone from Walmart (or online) which opperates on Verizon's network nationwide. There are two prepaid monthly options where the real savings are, I got the unlimited talk, texts and data for $45 per month but you can also get 1000 minutes, 1000 texts and 30mb of data for $30 per month and all 411 calls are free.

YesButHowever.com : Taxpayer Subsidized Cellphone Program Set to Expand

I think that this is a great service to the community and just the sort of thing that will help the unemployed to get a job and those in need to be able to dial 911 if they need to. I think the states that don't have this Safelink program yet should get it because all Americans are entitled to a telephone and payphone are becoming the dinosaurs of telecommunications, they are dieing out.

GadgetCrave : Wal-Mart Sells Cell Phones, No Contracts

Wal-mart is making a very smart move; I bought the unlimited Straight talk package and I'm really happy with it. The cell reception is always really good which is because it's on Verizon's network nationwide so I'm getting all the perks of a postpaid without having to sign a contract.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Prepaid cell phones can help you save a bundle | KOMO News - Breaking News, Sports, Traffic and Weat

I beg to differ, prepaid is not only for emergencies; I have a prepaid Straight Talk phone from Walmart with unlimited talk, texts and data for only $45per month which is far cheaper than what I used to pay on contract. I get better reception and service too because Straight Talk is run on Verizon's network nationwide, so I don't have to pay extra for roaming or long distance. I also dumped my landline because who needs to pay for one when I can make as many calls as I like for as long as I like on my cell phone.

It's a pity that BillShrink doesn't include the prepaid company's because they are cheaper and people could save even more if they canceled their contracts. You would be amazed to know that I use a Tracfone for work because I have clients spread around the globe and with Tracfone I can make long distance and international calls for the same price as a local call. Roaming is free and the reception is good all over America because they hire space on all the towers so I can always get signal.

KATU - Portland, OR : Camp officials questioned over flu outbreak | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

I was reluctant to send my kids to camp this year as this flu has had many of us parents very worried. I am glad that I bought my kids new prepaid Tracfone Motorola W376's before they went to camp. They came with DMFL and a camera, FM radio, web access and blue tooth. They also have games like Suduko and Tetras built in which I think are good for math and co-ordination. Anyway, I got them on promotion for less than $30 which means that I only really paid something like $6 per phone considering what the DMFL costs. Tracfone is great because they are inexpensive so I’m not going to bite the kid’s heads off if they get damaged and they can’t run up huge bills. They really enjoy sending me photos of themselves at camp and love receiving them plus I am always able to phone them and check that they are alright.

Well, I think it's all very jolly for the Army to have Satphones but for the general public it is prohibitive. The economy is not what it was and people are cutting expenses in every possible corner, I doubt that people will go for a safety feature that doesn't work in bad weather. I am very happy with my Tracfone which is so inexpensive and I don't need to worry about exorbitant phone bills. The cell phone infrastructure is already in place and $1000 for a handset is outrageous, I think they are wasting a lot of money putting these birds in the sky.

I have been stuck in a cell phone contract that just self renewed without informing me or getting my approval so instead of the two years I thought I was in for I ended up having to pay for four years. But now I have canceled the contract and good riddance to it, I will never sign a contract for a cell phone again. I decided to get a prepaid Tracfone instead and I have been very pleasantly surprised to find how much cheaper they are. Long distance and some international calls are the same price as local calls which are starting to make my land line look obsolete. Prepaid is definitely better than contract and I can recommend Tracfone as one of the cheapest.

I agree that prepaid is far cheaper than contract, I have a Tracfone and I'm convinced it's the cheapest prepaid on the market. There is no daily fee, no roaming charge and the reception is better than with other carriers because Tracfone hires space on all the towers which gives them the best coverage in America. I can make long distance and International calls to about 60 different country's for the same rate as a local call. Text messages are only 5 cents each as apposed to 20 cents most other carriers are charging so it really is the cheapest.
