I hope I can provide some clarification to address your concerns. Savers is closing on Nov. 22 and customers did express disappointment. Additionally, a petition was started on Change.org to save the store. I am extremely cautious about any article that involves speculation; but in this case, when supervisors and owners of the businesses affected by this deal repeatedly say the building sold and that Whole Foods is the buyer, I would've been remiss to not address it in the article and follow up with Whole Foods to respond to these very widespread claims. Whole Foods officials have denied that they plan to open a store in that location. So you have to take that into consideration as well. We'll know more about the potential buyer when that warranty deed is filed and recorded. Thank you for the comment. We've heard the same for a while now. Officials involved have not commented and King Soopers officials have repeatedly declined to comment. Until this point, this technically has been speculation as no official documents were filed with the city for development proposals related to these sites. Just a quick FYI ... FlatIron Marketplace and FlatIron Crossing are operated by different owners. The article published a few days back indicated sales are up at FlatIron Crossing and also slightly up at the entire "FlatIron District" (which includes the Marketplace, FlatIron Crossing and MainStreet at FlatIron), despite the vacancy rates and lagging sales at FlatIron Marketplace. Every so often, a trend can be gleaned from one of these reports. In this report in particular, there was a small mention that apparel sales were up significantly. After looking back over the reports in the past 11 years, it became clear that May and June sales had hit 10-year highs. The crux of this article is about this shift in the local apparel sector -- and officials attributing some of those gains to the arrival of one retailer. Please also note that the article contains this line: "The year-to-date increases have narrowed in the past four months and city finance officials suggested that trend will continue," followed by additional projections from the city. Kerry, The fact is that sales tax receipts (through May) are up 5.97 percent from the same period last year. Yes, the y-t-d increases have narrowed from the beginning of the year, and that is addressed by Eichem's statement above. Separately, a number of factors -- including when the tax submittal deadlines fall; when receipts are collected; etc. -- can affect the month over month sales tax collections. That's why we don't look at the month-versus-month. It's really not an accurate figure because of these timing considerations. As the year goes on, obviously, we'll get a better sense of how these collections will fare.
