I strongly agree.

"The main purpose of the Tory election campaign was to deliver Brexit. As far as most voters are concerned, that’s already been done, whether or not Britain ends up with a deal or no deal."

I'm not convinced that Brexit has been delivered. The 'oven-ready' WA that Boris agreed to was making the best of the bad situation created by Mrs. May. Brexiteers accepted it through gritted teeth on the understanding that Boris would hold the line on the trade deal negotiations.

Boris has let various deadlines for walking away from these negotiations come and go. He may yet buckle and give in to the EU over fishing rights and level playing field guarantees.

"Let's hope that he keeps his nerve and does not give in to the EU over fishing or ECJ jurisdiction, etc. otherwise he'll really be down and out as far as I'm concerned."

Me too.

"We are destroying our country as the govt runs around like a headless chicken out of control and out of any ideas except those that are totalitarian."

That's the way it seems.

Well said. The damage has been done, all that remains to be seen is if the Government will change its approach.

"The EU pursues a cardinal principle: that we must not benefit from Brexit. "

The actions of the EU do seem to support this view. That's why the Government is right to introduce the Internal Market Bill as an insurance policy against the EU behaving badly.

Quite right. The Government needs to address the concerns raised by other scientists, such as Dr Mike Yeadon, over the false positive rate.

If we are over identifying positive cases, then the situation is not as severe as the Government is suggesting.

"David Gauke: May should lead the Commons struggle against her successor’s plan to break international law if necessary"

I'm glad that he is no longer a Conservative MP and cannot vote against the Government.

"Unfortunately we lose tens of thousands to flu every few years. But this doesn't provoke this insane over reaction that we have seen with covid."

It is an insane overreaction. The Government started with a good idea of trying to prevent the NHS being overrun with Covid-19 cases, and they succeed.

Now they have changed the goal posts to trying to reduce the number of Covid-19 deaths. It's a laudable aim, but at what cost to liberty, the economy and other non-Covid health issues?
