West Ham Till I Die : Vote: Player Performances v Cardiff City

Thought it was a cr@p game of football, but in a way, that suited us. We won, kept a clean sheet, away from home against a team who will be in the playoffs at the end of the season. Defence were solid, but I feel we missed a holding midfielder today. Someone like Diop, who gives that extra protection to the backline. Found Collison and Vaz Te frustrating. Don't know what it is about VT but he always looks so clumsy on the ball. Never really made an impact, and was our worst player today. Maynard was unlucky with his chances. He is still new to the team, but he looks lively, I feel sorry for him a little bit as he is not suited to play the lone front man. It would be interesting to see him pplay up top with Cole, especially when Taylor comes back to add width, Taylor left, Faubert right..... Overall, happy with the performance and result, and we go into to winnable home games unbeaten in 4 and scoring some goals.

Agree re: Nolan. Has come in for some stick, but today he showed why he is captain, and why he is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Like most, can't agree about Faye, he was immense, last ditch tackles, blocking, won most of his headers.....he was my star man!!

West Ham Till I Die : In Conversation With David Sullivan (Part 1): Demba Ba - "One of the Biggest Mistake of My Life"

Good read so far Iain, very interesting. I do have to question why the chairmen would sign a striker, thinking he wouldn't do as well as they hoped..... if they didn't think Ba was gonna do well, why bother? I'm also staggered at the amounts of money being quoted for agents and players.

I would imagine that it's already common knowledge in the football world, when you have sleazy agents involved, and touting their players around.

West Ham Till I Die : Result: Player Performances v Millwall - Noble Rules

I must admit, I feared the worst when we lost Nolan on Saturday, however, the players all stood up to be counted, worked their socks off, and deserved the win. Noble, like many have already mentioned, was simply outstanding. He took the game by the scruff of the neck, was behind every attack, yet also got back to defend. His passing was excellent, his awareness top notch, and tackling (for once) perfectly timed. Faubert was awesome, and I love it when he is fired up, but his problem is that he is inconsistent. I saw him against Forest the other week, and he was awful! So if he can get some consistency in his play, he would be a top player. Also thought Cole, Reid and McCartney were particularly good. Hopefully, this will give us a kick start, and help us finish the season strongly. We need to carry on battering teams, and playing with no fear like Saturday.

I think that would be our strongest team on paper, if all players were on equal form and confidence, however, I wouldn't be dropping Reid at the moment. Barring Ipswich where everyone was sh!t, Reid has done well since he come back in the side, and being dropped after scoring the winner against your bitter rivals wouldn't help him.

Is that the same Faye who faffed around, and didn't put his foot through the ball for their goal, and let Henderson get near him? Think he is a good player in the Championship, not sure if he would cut it as a regular. If he was that good, why wasn't he a regualr in the Newcastle and Stoke sides he played for? Certainly worth keeping as a squad player, as I assume he is only on small wages.

I think it's a bit unfair to say Nolan has not contributed this season..... I'm sure you weren't moaning about him when he scored the winners against Brighton and Coventry when our strikers were falling well short. He is certainly not my favourite player, but to say he hasn't contributed is wrong really. He was stupid to get go in with two feet in the current climate, and I agree with your point about him actually scoring points.

I think Jelavic will be good..... for a Championship club. Just can't see him making the step up to Prem league footy if we go up. And for the money we are spending, we could get 2 decent players (As mentioned, Sordell being one, love the look of the guy).

We were not playing high balls to him, we were trying to find a pass over the top for him to latach onto. When he did get the ball, he lost control a few times, or just didn't have the pace on the defenders. Apart from the cross leading to the penalty, I can't actually remember seeing him in the Opposition penalty area, which is where I want to see him really, on the 6 yard box, getting himself on the end of balls into the box. He played too far away from Cole too, which leads me to believe that we played 4-3-3. Faubert was awful..... he really was.

Exactly Aussie.....I think we have the strikers, but we need a winger who can run at defences, get crosses in from the touchline (another Etherington would do nicely!). When Taylor returns, I am sure we will score more.

Faubert got forward well, and I think at home, we play him as an attacking full back, allowing an extra player for midfield. Fauberts crossign was awful, in fact his whole distribution was. At one point, he made a lofgted pass back to Green from the halfway line, instead of knocking it short across the back line. I love Fauberts passion and commitment, but his all round game is just not good enough.

Was at the game today, and was left really frustrated. Best players - Tomkins, Reid, Noble & Cole. Worst players - Baldock, Nolan, Faubert. We lacked a creative spark, and Fauberts crossing was absolutely terrible, I can't remember him actually finding one of our players. Rob Hall put in more accurate crosses in 15 minutes of game time, then Faubert did all game. Baldock was also unusually quiet, I wonder if he is just getting back to match fitness, but he was not at the races today. Collison worked hard, and missed two clearcut chances....he really does need to improve his finishing. However, Forest didn't really trouble us that much, and Reid and Tomkins looked solid. Cole also put in a lot of hard work but was lacking support from Baldock and the midfield. But my MOTM was Noble, not just for his cool head from the penalty spot, but for the way he was behind every attack, and his passing was accurate. He run the game for us, and looked Premier League class. Good news that Tomkins also signed a new contract...... Overall, not the best performance, but 3 points and top of the league, I'm not going to complain!

West Ham Till I Die : Corluka Signs Tomorrow?

Faye has played first team football at Bolton and Newcastle during what were successful spells. Tomkins has played 2 seasons in the Prem, and now has got stronger playing in the Championship, so will be fitter, stronger and better next season. mcCartney went on loan to Leeds last season and looked awful, but Allardyce seems to have re-ignited his spark and got the best out of him. Demel is an international, played his early years at Arsenal and then played in the top leagues in Germany (over 70 apps for Bor. Dortmund, and 130 for Hamburg). How do you know that nobody come in for Faye, IMO, the fact that he could play for Allardyce again was the main draw. Green, Noble, Nolan, Taylor and Cole are all still PL quality players, Collison, when he gets back to form, will be as well.
