Bluray version sounds like they just up-digitized the content of the DVD. Also, somewhat surprisingly... I really enjoyed HBO's Deadwood. I found it enthralling, though a lot of people didn't like the heavy use of foul language. I felt they did an amazing job with it and am only disappointed that I didn't learn about it sooner.
