Well, Rarity's entire point in going to the Grand Galloping Gala was to get hooked up. There's a whole two-parter about betting married. The Cakes are not only married but had babies. The Valentine's Day episode involved a ton of schmoopy-doopy love between Cheerilee and Big Mac that's implied to still be going on despite the love poison not taking effect anymore, and in the comics Big Mac gets all the mares, up to and including a kiss from Luna.

None of these have been handled wrongly so far. I don't see any reason why this will be.

No, there were a ton of comments, it's just at some point (over last summer I think) they tinkered around with their archives or whatnot and accidentally deleted the vast majority of the comments on old posts. I don't know exactly where the break off was, but many are gone permanently. It's a shame really. Those could've really lent insight into the fandom's mindset at the time, especially for more noteworthy events like this.

Exactly, pretty sure he knows Rarity wouldn't really appreciate him chasing off potential suitors, though I guess we all act a little irrational when we're young and impressionable.

Well, as long as they make you happy! It's just I don't think Rarity would appreciate him warding off potential suitors. Or hanging out with teenage dragons for that matter. They seem to be quite the bad influence.
