KCRG : Anamosa Restaurant Engulfed in Flames | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and Weather | Lo

Don't dis the Anamosa fire department or the firefighters. They train and test just like every other firefighter. I believe they receive a small stipend for responding to the call, but most are there, taking their personal time, to do what they love and care so much about. You should be able to see that by all who responded to this blaze! While maybe they were standing there in the photo you saw, you didn't see what they were doing before or after that picture. Firefighters are like their own family. They support one another through thick and thin.....kind of like the Marines....Anyway, I find some of these comments hurtful and ugly and they probably should have been kept to yourself. Think of those who have lost their jobs......be kind. The world is full of enough hatred and ugliness that we don't need to attack our own neighbors.

GazetteOnline.com : Anamosa school board considers free interest option

The pertinate information wasn't relayed in the news. I don't think we can blame past board members for what they felt was best. Now we have another board that thinks they know best. Who is right? It is sad that this division has taken place and that the current board felt the need to skirt around until they got their way. Living in Anamosa all of my life, I know that this is how this town operates. Clicks??? You don't know the half of it!! But that is beside the point. My opinion is that the news has been sketchy in what they report, the Anamosa Journal Eureka doesn't have a clue what's going on (hence the lack of news on the situation), and those with power will get what they want. I continue to question the fact that if the school was "falling apart", why did they continue to leave students there all of this time? I don't agree with what has happened with this, but now is the time to come together and work as a team to make the best of this unfortunate situation.

If the school was as bad as they say, what were the kids still doing there? The "NO" vote had nothing to do with the school itself. The current land was bought and had water and sewer installed. The new land they wanted to buy was approximately double the cost. The consensus was that they couldn't afford a new high school, but they could afford to pay upward of $13,000/acre for different land.
