Big Government : California Tax Mess Exposed: Hiking Some Taxes, Not Collecting Others

This doesn't surprise me. California is in such a mess from governing incompetence that everything is imaginable. What is really sad is that many businesses are holding on to their tax money while workers are getting government I.O.U.s in the mail. In light of their unique situation, it is truly unethical that these unions and businesses are not paying their taxes. Of course it is the responsibility of the government to make sure the taxes are collected. In light of that, the same liberals who trumpet the "equality," "fairness," and "social justice" rhetoric are responsible for greater inequality, unfairness, and injustice.

Big Government : Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. Nabbed in Double Scandal

It is nice to see prosecutors intentionally not pursue their case with their full weight because they are afraid of implicating the Obama administration. Never took such a consideration with the Bush administration. So much for equal protection under the law... It is amazing that Jesse Jackson Jr. has made it this far without getting nabbed. It is also amazing how little coverage his scandals have been getting in the media.

Big Government : Pigford Press Conference: Reps. Bachmann, King Allege Fraud in Black Farmers Settlement

Eric Holder's Justice Department will not pursue this case. However, once Republicans take control of Congress, hopefully the DOJ and the Obama administration will be investigated. Whether it be ACORN, the Black Panthers, or now, the Pigford case, the Obama is pushing a corrupt agenda based on racial politics.

Big Government : Open Primary Night Thread

It looks like the Republican establishment is in great trouble. They relied on voters believing the lie that a self-described "electability" was the most important quality in a candidate. In the end, we all no where that has put the country. Now we have a real conservative. Despite the ridiculous smear tactics, the voters of Delaware saw through it. And they may very well see through it in November as well. The unfortunate reality in politics is when a RINO is elected into office in a year where the balance of power is closely divided in the Senate, the RINO becomes the crowned representative who decides what bills get through and what bills fail. The whole party becomes tainted because its representative isn't a conservative and would be better suited for the Democratic Party. Whether O'Donnell can pull it off in the end will soon be decided. But the winner is the conservative movement. It sends a message to the establishment: find quality conservative candidates or face the consequences from those who they claim to represent. If O'Donnell can pull off a victory in November, the pundits and insiders in Washington certainly get a strong dose of humility for being so wrong. But maybe they will pretend it never happened. If so they will be looking for new jobs.

Big Government : Regime Uncertainty: Behind the Reports of Economic Doom

A lot of cited "economic experts" are picked and chosen by politicians with agendas. However, many experts would definitely agree with Robert Higgs' analysis -- you know, the ones with common sense. Any person with a hint of commonsense knows that a business must make short term, mid-term, and long-term decisions based off of their future business costs and expected productivity. If you are unable to come to a definitive conclusion about what the productivity outlook and the business cost outlook will be, you will have to assume for the worst, make take no risks, horde money, and hope for the best. But I don't have a degree in economics, so what do I know...

Big Government : Democrats Can’t Win 435 Different Elections

Thomas makes an interesting point. However, with few exceptions, his point is only relevant when one party is in control of both houses of Congress and the Executive Branch. When the power is shared in Washington, the party brand is less important. However, 2012 may be an exception because many of the Democrat policies will still be hitting Americans hard -- ObamaCare being the prime example.

Big Journalism : Evening Thread: Chris Matthews Tells Obama, 'Get Rid of the Damn TelePrompter'

It is quite amazing to hear Mr. I-got-a-thrill-up-my-leg Matthews actually give such an honest assessment of Barack Obama. He is actually echoing my analysis of the delivery of the speech. But of course, I also talk about the substance -- the whole speech was disingenuous. "Obama's 'I Don't Care' Speech": http://www.apexaminer.com/theape/2010/09/01/obama...

Big Government : No Help on the Horizon for Democrats

The Cook Report is a left-leaning political prognosticator. The proof is in the pudding; just take a look at what is cited in the report to sure up his argument. He is saying that the Democrats are in dire shape, and he is using left-leaning data. Most surveys find that well over 50% of the population has an unfavorable view of the health care law. He says that it is now 45%, up from the mid-30s. The point here is that even the liberal bias data is showing big problems for Democrats. When you take a look at objective data, you will find that it is not just a good year for Republicans, but rather, a political tsunami. Dick Morris predicted on Greta's show last week that he believes the number of Republican gains will be around 80 in the House. And he is probably right.

Big Government : Voting With Your Wallet: Are You Helping to Fund America's Impending Bankruptcy?

I don't think boycotting unions will make a difference -- economically or principally. The reason is that as long as Democrats hold power, they will bail out the unions using your tax dollar. If the unions suffer, the tax payers will be forced to hand out the cash. The bailout of the unions is blatantly unconstitutional. However, there is no enforcer of Constitutional principles. Only after a change in Congress can some sort of accountability be realized. However, I am confident that sooner or later, lawmakers and President Obama will be held accountable. The union-politician connection resembles pay-to-play. If the issue was investigated, there most certainly be an unveiling of corruption throughout the Progressive Caucus and the White House. Investigations of how unions are using their money should also be investigated.

Big Government : Progressive Activist, and Disgruntled Employee, Firebombed Democrat Rep. Carnahan's Office

I'm curious to know what was in the documents dumped... I guess we will never know. No matter how hard the media tries to tie progressive acts of violence to the Tea Party movement, people are beginning to see through it. People have eyes and see the Tea Party as a peaceful movement. They have eyes and see left-wing nut cases and union thugs committing acts of vandalism quite regularly. Vandalism has become a signature of disgruntled left-wing activists. When suggest vandalism of a campaign headquarters occurs and the media tries to paint it on conservatives, people are beginning to laugh because they know better.

Big Government : AFL-CIO Joins Marxist/Progressive Get Out the Vote Alliance

The only power the Marxist-progressives have is in deception. Unions and community organizers have finally come out of the woodwork in the hopes to gain power. However, the problem is that in order to grab tangible and lasting power, they have to show their hand. By showing their hand, they lose support and power. It's a catch-22. Their only hopes rest in the dictator-esque governance of President Obama. However, one election will fix him. The American system of governance cannot be subverted for long before the aggressors meet their political doom.

Big Journalism : Mayor Mike Bloomberg: 'Bleeding-Heart White Liberal'

Mayor Bloomberg has really given himself a black-eye on this one. To think he thinks he is taking the moral high ground just shows that he is living in a world of arrogance like that which can be found in Washington D.C. It is too bad that it took a Muslim woman from Canada to stick up for the moderate Muslims and to denounce the efforts to bill this Ground Zero Mosque. There aren't too many people who have left Bill O'Reilly speechless, but she was able to do just that. The fact that a Greek Orthodox Church has not been rebuilt after it was destroyed on 9/11 because of bureaucracy, but this mosque is not only allowed to go forward, but is apparently being assisted in its construction by the political class in Washington D.C. and NYC, gives us yet another case of disturbing insight into the people who are managing our government.

Big Government : Obamanomics: Retirement of the World's Greatest Cheer

It is quite apparent that these advisers were not being heard in the White House and were put out there as political props to propagate and image of moderation. Truth be told, the only people defending Obama's policies are political hacks. Anybody with a half of brain and a hint of commonsense knows that what President Obama is doing is hurting the economy; not helping it. People crying in support of Obama are also saying we need more stimulus. An honest person would tell you that the bulk of the stimulus comes from the federal reserve and that which has come from the treasury has not been used efficiently. Why more stimulus when $400B of it hasn't been used. The stimulus was nothing more than a TRILLION DOLLAR payoff to his supporters who in turn will use the money to try and help progressives stay in office.

Big Government : Teachers Unions Fear Competition and Will be the Downfall of American Education

Sadly, the budget crisis may be the best thing that could happen to education. As governors follow Chris Christie's lead in cutting teachers' benefits and taking the teachers' union head on, schools will be begin to be held more accountable. Here are a couple ideas that would help the education system wants the ball gets rolling: 1) Get rid of the department of education 2) Give vouchers to poor families so that they can choose what school they want their children to go to 3) Abolish the education departments in schools. It forces future teachers to specialize in "progressive teaching" rather than the subject they will be teaching once they get a job. Professors don't need a teaching degree to teach and neither should middle and high school teachers. This would save teacher's money from school bills while attracting more people -- people who actually know what they are teaching about -- to become teachers. 4) Fast track programs for students so they can graduate in 3 years.

Big Journalism : I Got My Correction Thanks to the The New York Times -- Now Who's Next?

Bury a correction while continuing the narrative. Why make a correction in the first place? Perhaps for legal reasons? It is obviously not for ethical reasons. Although this is not nearly enough and is pathetic and a bit insulting, it does provide a fact that can't be dismissed by progressives anymore. Any time they try to propagate the lie, one can provide the New York Times correction. Because the New York Times has become the progressives media standard bearer, they can't dismiss it.

Big Government : ObamaCare: Another Rationing Shill

By making broad, non-specific health legislation that leaves regulators to implement the new laws, the regulators become the decision-makers about whether a person gets their medicine or not. It is plain commonsense and it is remarkable that such commonsense is dismissed and attacked by the media or as Capitol Confidential puts it, the "shills." Over the course of the next couple of years, more and more horror stories about how the legislation harms everyday Americans will surface in the new media and the public opinion will continue to grow against the legislation -- despite what Conrad Colmes thinks.
