Hockey Independent : CONTENTION AND DISSENSION AT LIGHTHOUSE HEARING: Two Sides Clash And Have Alternative Takes On The P

Who says Kansas City will be the only bidder? After the lousy turnout I would not be very encouraged. I'm sure some corp will crop up and buy the Isles if the situation arises. It might even be Jay-Z. Hah

The TOH probably knows that, hence the "Stonewall" routine. Because the Islander's have die-hard fans that care about the team to a ridiculous degree, it's been panic city.

I bet you after all of this craziness, one of two things will happen: 1. TOH board declines unless the project is scaled down tremendously or 2. Wang sells the team to a new owner(or group of owners more likely), Bettman and the NHL refuse to move the franchise (just like phoenix) and the TOH will grant the new owners a new arena and not much else.

While it may be true that he is a Gordon favorite, Thompson has an even better shot at making the team now that Frans Nielsen will miss several weeks with a knee sprain.

Hockey Independent : Okposo Taken Off Ice on Stretcher

The league is supposedly cracking down on those "message sending" events. They wouldn't even show a replay on the broadcast last night or show the medical people attending to Okposo at all. Hopefully Okposo bounces back quickly and Phaneuf gets a fine.

It's a shame that Thompson has such trouble producing any offense. He skates like the wind and has shown toughness, but I feel he needs to do more. Hopefully if Nate makes the team he can help the Isles in the Face-off and Penalty Kill areas.

I left out Scott Gordon favorite Nate Thompson who may also fill that spot - at least partially throughout the season. Garth snow signed him to a two-way deal so under that inference, I'm assuming he won't be a mainstay.
