Filipino Freethinkers : A Rebuttal to the Defense of CBCP's Stand on the RH Bill

"All human beings, Catholic or not, are obliged to act according to right reason. By the efforts of the Church to go against the RH Bill, the Church is not imposing her religious beliefs on others. She is trying to stop a bill which is against natural law, a law which all human beings, Catholic or not, should follow. " - BULLSHIT. - Why do I always get a lesson on Logical Fallacies 101 each time I read cbcp's statements, or any of their defenders? Reyes' circular reasoning is wider than the orbit of Jupiter. By saying "all human beings, Catholic or not", he gives me the impression that he is invalidating other religions who do not share the same beliefs or dogma. Talk about tolerance!

Filipino Freethinkers : Why PNoy’s SONA is Not a Triumph for the RH Bill

Applause? Standing ovation? Ecstatic? I hope that the president will not swim along the current of popularity this time, because when ur mom is best remembered as Cardinal Sin's best friend, grabbing the bull by its horns might be a tall order. It's too early to rest on our laurels. We'll all have to wait for the August 7 deadline.

What surprises me though, is that the Defensores Fidei is so stiff. Where are the "comments" section underneath their articles? Are they scared of being refuted, or are they scared of critical thinkers altogether?

This comes as no surprise. Unless the Philippines gets colonized by the Vatican, everyone is free to contest the bullshit made by the Roman Catholic Church... I came across some of the articles written by the Defensores Fidei, and I laugh at the medieval-style way of thinking that these fanatics are blurting online. Ewww..... //Secularism: A Hidden Danger In our time, this creeping hostility often combines with a tendency to consider abortion, homosexuality and various forms of immorality to be "rights" against which no one should even speak out. This is the reason why Cardinal Ratzinger has spoken of an "intolerant" secularism that begins by excluding religion from the public sphere and ends up so extending that public sphere that the individual conscience is left with no room for religious belief. - By Carlos Palad, Defensores Fidei Foundation // http://www.defensoresfidei.com/secularism.html

//Mind you, nobody knew about the Kabataan Partylist nor its representative Raymond Palatino and we really don’t know what his agenda is? Is it merely to stir controversy so that people would recognize him or his partylist or is this fellow truly an atheist? Whatever it is… this fellow should be censured for trying to destroy Filipino culture.// - Valeriano Avila (PhilStar) - And since (he) we really don't know what Palatino's agenda is, why is he giving a verdict of atheism and a penalty of censure? In the absence of facts, Avila formed conclusions based solely from his personal opinion. NO WONDER JOURNALISTS ARE KILLED IN THIS COUNTRY.

Yes, Bush. And yet Beltran had the nerve to criticize Obama for his stance on gay marriage, which unfortunately for the PhilStar columnist, has actually gained accolades for the current US president. Reading his article gave me the impression that his only concern is to defend his religious sensibilities, while trying to paint a slightly evil picture for secularism. We need more lawmakers like Palatino, dontcha think?

//...they (Americans) can have an abortion on demand and now they have the first Black American President who supports gay marriage...// - Abortion on demand, yes. Heard of the Bible Belt? - Obama, yes. The first Black American President. But we all know that, do we?
//...the proposed legislation he has crafted is an act of violence against every religion in existence in the Philippines. As a follower of Christ I am taught to turn the other cheek...// - Why is he acting so butt-hurt? The Christian religion is notorious for being violent against every religion that is contrary to its dogma. Cito Beltran only needs to type the following on Google: the crusades in the Holy Land, the Albigensian massacre in southern France, or the papal decree to hunt followers of Calvinism in Europe. Congressman Palatino's efforts to provide a secular atmosphere amongst government offices is FAR FROM VIOLENT.

“Nganong did-an man nila ang Ginoo nga musulod sa bisan asa nga lugar nga siya man ang tag-iya sa tanang butang sa kalibutan? (Why should people want to keep God out of some places, when all of creation belongs to him?),” - Msgnr.
A Cebuana myself, I can't help but give an understandable sigh for our beloved city mayor. Whereas the rest of the world are trying to launch space rockets and are developing a cure to AIDS or cancer, the esteemed mayor wants to preserve tradition, in the guise of protecting religious affiliates. //appeal to tradition (similar to the bandwagon fallacy): (e.g., astrology, religion, slavery) just because people practice a tradition, says nothing about its viability.// Here are just 5 of the numerous traditions being practised by Filipinos: 1.Colonial Mentality 2. "Ningas Kugon" or Crab Mentality 3. "Bahala na" 4.
