JeffT So far so good! The Premier of Victoria has announced the terms of the Royal Commission into the recent bush fires. The terms are very wide ranging. It would appear that concerns that the Commission would be nobbled by restrictive terms of reference were premature. Quote: "The most open inquiry that is possible. No stone unturned. Every bit of information on the table. And if that means calling ministers or premiers, or whoever it is, we will be happy to assist." The leader of the Victorian opposition has already given an up front commitment to implement the recommendations of the Commission. Jeff T I've just listened to Mal's interview with Ralph Barraclough . Ralph's comments on fire retardant chemicals are particularly relevant as their use is an essential part of the Wilderness Society's 6 point fire management plan. quote from the Wilderness Society website: "1. Improve aerial surveillance to detect bushfires as soon as they start. 2. Ramp up hi-tech, quick response capability, including more 'Elvis' helicopters to fight bushfires as soon as they ignite." Ralph points out that as a result of the recent use of these chemicals in the Melbourne water catchments, in his words......"Melbourne is in deep shit " "if you visit Melbourne take bottled water to drink and don't have a bath ! " So if these green lunatics don't burn you out they will poison you.

JeffT I noticed that Mal set up a separate section for 'Bush Fire Inquiries' which I'm still reading through. I hope he's wrong....but I doubt it ! These green monsters see the appalling loss of life as little more than co-lateral damage. Hopefully if the media keep pursuing the issue of fuel loads then they will be exposed as the frauds they are.

Sue M You must have forgotten the 'hot air' component as a result of man made climate change. They tell me it's hard to predict the effect and that it makes little difference whether you are standing facing the fire or you have your back to it. Of course if you have your back to it then methane emissions become relevant and it will depend on whether you have been eating meat or mung beans !

Are the leaders of the green movement actually refugees from Mars (their colour is right ! ) Tonight on the channel 7 'Sunday Night' programme a senior spokesman for the Wilderness Society stated words to the effect that: .......Fuel loads have very little or at least not a major effect on the severity of a bush fire.......... I blame this lack of knowledge about the outcome of countless enquiries over more than 30 years on the limited distribution network of the majors.
