I agree and if all schools could be like that then I am all for it. But I know it wasnt like that when I went to school. maybe a 30 minute assembly but that was it. No more no less. Very disappointing. And I will be the first to say even though my grandfather served I showed not interest and had very little respect, but I married a Marine and gained all the respect in the world and my kids will and have done the same!

I agree some kids will do that and some parents will work.( I know sometimes I just cant get it off) but I guess coming from a military background I guess its a second nature. I dont expect everyone have it in their family.. But it would be nice if it got reconized and respected.

I didnt say that. I believe that the parents should educate their kids about it. It should also be a choice on wether or not they go, and Because it is a day very near and dear to my family we choose to take that day and properly devote it.

Oh yeah right... why dont you send them to school on Christmas so they can learn all about Santa and then find out how the fat bastard really doesnt exist. You obviously arent a Veteran, (or have any respect for them) because on they day off my kids know who, why, and what it is they are celebrating,(aka their dad and their papa's and their great grandfathers) and do it with pride.

It clearly says it took 2 hours for "Dive Team" not "Search and Rescue" Im sure if it was a search and rescue they would have been there much faster, and if it did say that it took 2 hours for search and rescue teams to get there then Yes that would be a BIG concern.
