I'm of European descent yet I don't throw a fit when a school uses mascots like "Vikings" or "Celtics". I do get it when they use names like "redskins". I would think names like "braves" or "warriors" would be something to be proud of. Many counties and city names are in reference to Native Americans. You would think that you would cherish these things as a reminder to the rest of us how great you are. It's almost like trying to erase history, one name at a time. Now the term "Native American" is the one name that should be done away with. First of all, each tribe has their own name. Use it! Why would you want to be all lumped together under one name? Second, I was born and raised and have lived here in North America for 50 years! I think I'm a Native American! Yeah, second hand smoke sucks and we all have the right to not breathe it, but over-taxing cigarettes as a way of forcing people to quit is a stupid idea. It forces people who smoke(most of them non-affluent) to roll there own cigarettes which means no filters which means faster dying people! Duh! Maybe that's what our government wants.
