Breitbart.tv : Chu: Energy Dept Working To Wean U.S. Off Oil, Not Lower Gas Prices

Maybe, just maybe, the majority of us that make up the U.S. do not want to be weaned off of oil if it results in the totally unnecessary destruction of our economy and quality of life. The "all pf the above" approach makes the most sense. We now have discovered more recoverable reserves of oil and natural gas on U.S. lands and off its shores than we ever imagined existed. Conservative estimates indicate we have in the range of 50 to 100 years of these reserves with which to provide the country's energy needs. That should be more than enough time to develop a practical and affordable alternative energy source to fossil fuels. But, then again, we haven't been able to accomplish that in the 38 years since the first Arab oil embargo of 1974.

Breitbart.tv : Carney: Boehner 'Dishonest,' Gas Prices Won't Decrease 'Simply By Drilling'

Maybe a whole bunch of us would like the opportunity to find out whether we can drill our way to lower prices or not. Unfortunately, as long as this bunch is in power, we'll not be afforded that opportunity. Maybe if enough of our whole bunch vote for the other candidate on November 6th, maybe, just maybe, we'll finally get that opportunity.

Big Government : Uncommon Knowledge Special Edition: Newt Gingrich

Personal baggage didn't keep Clinton form being a highly rated President, at least up until now. We still don't know what personal baggage Obama has because he was and remains the ultimate stealth candidate with respect to all relative facets of his personal life. If the personal baggage is such that it would keep a candidate from being a good President it should disqualify him/her; if not, he/she should be considered based upon his/her abilities to function as an effective President.

Does anyone believe those 49.5%, and rising, of individuals who pay no income taxes will ever vote for anyone except the candidate who promises to keep them income tax free and provide them with even more lifetime free stuff at the expense of the soon to be less than 50% of Americans who do pay income taxes and foot the bill for that lifetime free stuff?

Give the democrats credit; long ago they realized this key to perpetuating their hold on elected office and have been experts at it every since.

Big Government : School District Wants Teachers in the Classroom Full-Time, but the Union Won't Agree

The problem with public sector unions is that they do not negotiate with the owners of the "business" they work for, the taxpayer, as private sector unions do. Instead they negotiate with elected representatives of the taxpayers whose primary objective is to generally remain in office as long as possible, which in most cases causes a conflict in representing the best interests of the taxpayers who have to pay for whatever terms are agreed to. It is no secret that the unions make mega-campaign contributions to those elected officials who do their bidding in these negotiations in order to help them remain in office and participate i future contract negotiations. Simple solution, after a contract is negotiated, it has to be voted on by the taxpayers who have to pay the cost of the contract. If the taxpayers approve the terms negotiated, the contract is effective; if the taxpayers do not approve, it's back to the negotiating table.

Big Government : Do U.S. Corporations Pay Their 'Fair Share?'

How many businesses employing thousands of individuals do you think would have been created if an individual or a partner in a such a business had unlimited personal liability for what happened as a result of that business' operations and was required to place 100% of his/her personal assets at risk to pay any claims arising from litigation against that business? Even small business openings would be adversely affected, since adequate insurance cannot always be cost effectively purchased to protect the owners against claims arising out of some litigation.

It worked in 2008 and the American electorate is probably even more dumbed down in 2012 thanks to the public education system in this country, which has been under the control of liberals for the last 4 or 5 decades who have very successfully achieved their goal of providing that dumbed down American electorate for the benefit of the democrat party and the ultimate goal of keeping democrats in power so that the lifetime free stuff keeps coming to able-bodied, able-minded individuals at the expense of hard-working, responsible, productive taxpaying Americans.

The republicans need to decide if they want a candidate that can totally undress Obama in the Fall Presidential debates, if Obama has the guts to participate in them, and show him for what he really is, an empty suit incompetent good at only one thing, community organizing, socialist-leaning, not too in love with America, I want to have the final say and the Constitution be damned narcissistic individual, or do they want a candidate who looks pretty, isn't controversial, and appeals to the former mainstream media. If it's the former, then Gingrich is the obvious choice. If the latter, then any other candidate will suffice.

Big Government : Should the United Nations Have the Power to Impose Global Taxes?

The last time I checked, the U.N was not mentioned even one time in the U.S. Constitution. My preference is for the U.S. to pull out of the U.N. and then throw the U.N. out of the U.S. That would make it clear the U.S. cedes its sovereignty to no one and it would also be a small start in reducing our country's deficit; a small start, but one has to start somewhere.

Big Government : Union Radicals Harass Teacher Who Dared to Support Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker

Just one of many valid reasons to end public employee unions. FDR was right in his letter to Luther C. Steward, President of the National Federation of Federal Employees, of August 16, 1937, in which he said: "All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public personnel management. The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with Government employee organizations. The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives in Congress. Accordingly, administrative officials and employees alike are governed and guided, and in many instances restricted, by laws which establish policies, procedures, or rules in personnel matters. Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of Government employees. Upon employees in the Federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people, whose interests and welfare require orderliness and continuity in the conduct of Government activities. This obligation is paramount. Since their own services have to do with the functioning of the Government, a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable. It is, therefore, with a feeling of gratification that I have noted in the constitution of the National Federation of Federal Employees the provision that "under no circumstances shall this Federation engage in or support strikes against the United States Government."

The key bite from this book and what makes it beyond attack is "both Parties" as in neither party is serving the voters' interests who elected them, but, rather, they are dealing for their own self-interests and self-enrichment. If there can't be term limits for members of Congress, I've advocated for the longest, as an alternative to term limits, limit the term Congress can meet each year to 90 days, except in the event there's a declared war. By so doing, being a member of Congress truly becomes a part time job with no big salaries, big benefits, i.e., lifetime pensions, Cadillac health insurance plans, expense allowances, huge taxpayer paid staffs with their own luxurious benefits, INSIDER TRADING, etc. Many Americans believe this is what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they created Congress. That Congress would be peopled with the brightest, most creative and caring citizens from all the states who would assemble on an occasional basis to pass the few laws that were necessary to maintain the Union and then go home and take care of their business/jobs and their states' business. Re-creating Congress in that manner is an idea whose time is long overdue.
