My husband's grandfather had no problem with that. There were a couple of times someone broke into his home. The invaders were warned but did not listen....now they're 6 feet under.

Not just a waste of time, but a HUGE waste of money. There are more pressing issues to be spending the money on, like...oh, I don't know...TEACHERS? Supplies/equipment necessary to learn? Building maintenance in schools? There is already a huge strain on school budgets. Now they want the schools to spend thousands of dollars on repainting gym floors, getting new sports uniforms, even new letterhead, etc. Wow.

I think that because of how easy it is to obtain information these days, and how quickly it spreads, we're just hearing about it a lot more now. Stuff like this has been happening forever. But because of technology, it's easier for information to be spread worldwide in a matter of seconds.

I guarantee that I will be raising my daughter in a no-nonsense home. She will be raised to be respectful of others, be polite, courteous, and compassionate. She will know what it means to be grateful when someone hands her a gift, and not to expect anything in return if she gives a gift. She will be raised like my husband and I were raised: to be good people with an "old fashioned" sense of self respect and respect for others. By the way, it's so sad that I felt the need to use the term "old fashioned" in that respect...

I get irritated by the high school kids at the Lloyd Center max station EVERY DAY. I get off work at 3:30 pm and take the max from downtown PDX and get off at the LC where my husband picks me up. I can't tell you how many times I've been glared at by teens trying to get ON the train when I need to get OFF the train. Well, I'm sorry but, like you said, train etiquette (and elevator etiquette, etc) people get off before others get on. Not just etiquette, but COMMON SENSE.

This is why I tend to prefer country boys..at least the ones I grew up around. My husband is a backwoods country boy raised in Amador County, CA. He was taught to work hard for what he wanted and needed in life. He won't take a dime from anyone else, and is the most respectful man I've ever met. Granted, there are good seeds and bad seeds from every culture and subculture. I'm merely speaking from personal experience.

Yeah, I told my husband that if I weren't pregnant, I would have said something. It was in the middle of downtown PDX, with LOTS of people around, so they wouldn't have been able to do anything to me anyway. But now that I have a life other than my own to consider, I just kept quiet. I did glare at them in disgust though...which was only mildly satisfying.

A couple weeks ago, while I was waiting for the Max near the Pioneer Mall, I had the displeasure of overhearing a young couple bragging about how they refuse to give up their seats for "old people". When an elderly person made a comment along the lines of "I'm the 'old person' you're talking about", they told her to F off and were being completely rude and obnoxious. I was in utter shock that they thought themselves to be "cool" for being so disrespectful to another person, especially an elderly person. I couldn't believe it. People like that are a disgrace to society, and an embarrassment for the rest of us "youngin's" (I'm 24) who ARE respectful. People make me sick. I may be 4 1/2 months pregnant, too, but I'm not too pregnant (yet) to give up my seat to someone who needs it more than I do.
