pastapadre.com : NFL Conference Championship Preview

I don't wanna see the Jets in the SB. Nobody wants to endure another Superbowl a la Ravens/Giants back in 01. And that's how it'd look like with the Jets. The only difference is that Sanchez is a better QB than Dilfer... Colts/Vikings seems to be the better matchup.

pastapadre.com : #4 of 2009: FIFA 10

It should've been number 1 or 2. I think the game sill has a lot to improve, but what I basically like with FIFA, is that they actually deliver from one year to another. They don't come up short like uh... say... Madden. I just wish they treated better the numerous licences they own. I think there are still too many players on the game that don't look like their real life counterparts. But when you see how some marquee players used to look like on FIFA 08, and given the increasing number of improved players faces each year, we can expect a better FIFA 11 graphic wise. One other thing I'd like to see improved, is the shooting. It's still difficult to score long distance goals. Sometimes, you can play games where you feel that you can only score three different kinds of goals. But once again, I'm optimistic as FIFA 10 was way better that 09 in that area.

I'm not an EA apologist nor a 2k fan boy, however the two best sportsgames of the year were made by EA Sports. I'm talking about FIFA 10 and NHL 10. Madden 10 shouldn't be a top 5. Not because it's a bad game, it's pretty solid. But mostly because, Madden releases are way below expectations year in year out. In a way, FIFA 10 and NHL 10 are living examples that one needs competition.FIFA used to be an awful franchise. It was such a joke that it reminded the last releases of EA's Triple Play baseball. But Pro Evolution Soccer just flat out killed them during a 5 year span. Ditto with the NHL game. I used to love NHL 2k but they somehow rest on their laurels (in a more dramatic way than the guys working on the NBA 2k games)... Kudos to EA for bouncing back in such manners. Let's hope they can turn things around with Madden.

I don't really see the point. Most national teams' new kits are free DLC for FIFA 10. Sure some teams are missing (North Korea, Ghana and a couple more), but I'll stick to FIFA 10...

See pal, that's the problem. I'm not a fanboy. I'm a sports videogame lover. So I buy what I consider to be the best game. I used to buy Pro Evolution Soccer, but I was so disappointed that I switched back to FiFA. Even though we can all agree on the fact that 2k10 is not really different from 2k9 and still has some important issues, Live isn't playing in the same balllpark. Period. I got to borrow the game from a friend and play with it and I really didn't enjoy that experience. Merry Xmas blind fanboy !

NBA Live isn't even a TOP 20... I still don't get it Pasta. Do you think we will rush to stores to buy our own copy of that underachieving game, just because you praise that game any time you can ? I enjoy reading your website, but that NBA Live propaganda (I don't call it an EA Sports propaganda) is really annoying.

I love Nba 2k10, but there are two major recurrent flaws that they fail to fix. a) decent sliders. It takes weeks to find the good ones. It's impossible to play with the default ones, the CPU can shoot up to 60% from the field. Insane... b) NBA 2k10 is not online friendly. Why do I almost never play online? I can't freaking stand playing with guys who watch their replays on and on and on. Why do I have to put up with it ? This should be illegal... On top of that, the online sliders are awful...

Hmm how could it look radically different from 2k9 ? I mean Live 09 was ridden with flaws that that they pretty much can only do better with Live 10. With 2k the margin for improvement is way thiner. It will really take a demo to figure out what it's worth. The only thing I am disappointed about is that they brought back Clark Kellogg who's just awful...

I love NBA 2K but I can't stand these pro-EA or pro-2K debates. Come on, do you get money from these companies to be such hardcore and biased fans ? I don't, that's why I keep a very open minded attitude when it comes to sports games. I try both and buy the ones I like. I love NBA 2k, but if I feel that one day EA has surpassed 2k, I won't buy any longer the NBA 2k game. At least, that's what I did with soccer, since I returned to FIFA since Konami rested on its laurels. Speaking of the video, it looks good. I love the pace of the game and how the players look. Especially some shot deliveries that are spot on. But the ball really looks weird mid air. I am not a fan of so many one-handed passes (especially in a 2-minute-only vid) and I gotta say that some players look like they're not touching the floor in the middle of their two steps...

pastapadre.com : Madden 10 Video Blowout #3

If people keep on bringing over and over Nfl 2k5, it's simply because it was a great game. I'm not pro EA or pro 2k. I couldn't care less. All I want is a great videogaming experience and Nfl 2k5 was all I could ask for from a videogame. I know that this halftime segment is a "foundation", but you gotta admit that it took EA 5 freaking years to come up with a feature, that was almost flawless on a $20-game on previous gen consoles. That said, I'm not bitter. I'll buy Madden once again, it looks great... I mean I always buy Madden on even years, that's when they release their best games.

pastapadre.com : NBA Live 10 Gameplay Enhancements

I never get tired of these videos with a developer basically saying that last year's game was a worthless piece of crap but this year's game will be awesome... Let's see what they'll have to say about Live 10 next summer... I will have an opinion the day I'll see some actual in-game footage. So far, the hustling for the ball part makes me think that you can expect a lot of plays with some players literally flying out of bounds to keep a ball in bounds. I also think that this vid really made the Suns fans happy. Steve Nash looks like the reigning MVP in it ! I hadn't seen him taking the ball to the hoop like that since 04/05...
