West Ham Till I Die : Happy Endings

I think I may be missing the point. Games are played for 90 minutes so what position we'd be in if we stopped games at 45 minutes is irrelevant. I've just done some analysis and if we had scored 10 goals in every game we'd have a 100% record and be clear at the top of the league. I'm also working on some extrapolation of the data which is likely to show that if games were played for 18 days instead of the standard 90 minutes we'd be bottom of the league - but then we all know that extrapolation is the devil's work. I had a sense that Sam loved this crap when we were seeing stats on the official site about possession against crystal palace at the start of October - http://www.whufc.com/articles/20111004/big-sam-se.... The article seemed to suggest that despite the draw WH were the true victors as they had far more of the possession. I suppose this had its place in keeping the players mentally right after what might have been a disappointing result at that point in the season but beyond that it means nothing.

One observation: "he [Zola] said 'You get me Benni McCarthy and I will keep you up'." Now, they got him Benni McCarthy and true to his word he (Zola) kept them up #justsaying

West Ham Till I Die : Kovac: Not Missing You Already...

Can someone explain how you can fight for back-to-back promotions when you are a championship club? Surely you'd need to be league 1 or lower to achieve such a feat? Has he assumed that if he had stayed we'd be relegated next season as well and he would have been happy to have signed a 3 year contract?

Demba ba song: to the tune of Do The Conga by Black Lace Instead of the Chorus: Do-do-do. Come on and do the conga. Try: Dem-ba-ba. Come on and score a go-al. No? End of brief foray into football chants.

West Ham Till I Die : 48 hours and Counting!

WRT the stepping stone comment I think it was the club rather than player/agent who made that statement. I read something about them being happy with the deal as the player had signed a 4 year deal and 'will' be sold after 2 maybe 3 years. EDIT: I found the quote in a link - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6254... I took this to mean that there was a sell on clause and they were expecting his value to rise within those two years. I also drew parallels with previous deals.

West Ham Till I Die : New Away Kit Unveiled

I've just posted about this on the previous thread. Forget the kit, what do people think about the captain not being used in the promotional pictures? Should we be reading anything into this? Maybe he's on the home kit pictures; I suppose we'll have to wait until 22/7 to see.

West Ham Till I Die : Looking Cheap

"Are we really saying that if West Ham were in the same position as Fulham that we wouldn’t have done the same? Of course we would." That depends on your perspective. You could also ask 'if Fulham were in our position would they do the same?', and we all know the answer to that is yes if the stories about them asking us for 500k in lieu of one place in the final league table 2 years ago is anything to go by.
