FYI- No issues jailbreaking an iPad Air 2(WiFI/Cell) -running 8.4 and iTunes 12.0.1.26 (running Win 7 VM)- just ensure iTunes IS 12.0.1.26, disable find my phone, and turn off passcode lock. If you still have issues, I highly recommend restoring to factory settings, jailbreaking, then restoring from your backup.

No, there is no publicly available jailbreak for iOS 8.x.x - and there is no timeframe if/when one may be available.

You will gain nothing by going to 5.1.1 - even if you could - stay where you are on 5.0.1 if you require the unlock.

FYI - Apple has released 7.1 - re-restore to 7.0.6 NOW if you want to have or retain the jailbreak. Once Apple stops signing 7.0.6 there will be no way to get back to 7.0.6 for at least A5+ devices (pre A5+ unknown yet). The signing window is unknown - move quickly.

Greetings Conv! Great to hear from you once again. Glad to know one of the old timers is still around and checking back for updates. Thus far (generally speaking), for the majority of users the jailbreak has been very stable, however many apps still need to be updated for iOS 7 and/or 64-bit architecture. I would get on 7.0.x sooner than later - before 7.1 is released - at least once on 7.0.4 you can then choose to jailbreak or still wait it out for specific apps to be updated.

And I will add to the speculation confirmation that it is not SBSettings - unless for some reason you installed it from a non-standard repo.

Sorry to say, but no, not only an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S running 6.1.3, but no jailbreak at all for the 4S running 6.1.3. You will need an iPhone 4 or older to jailbreak 6.1.3.

Unfortunately no, you cannot downgrade the iP5 from 6.1.4 to 6.1.2.

You will need to have the 6.1.2 SHSH hashes saved for that to work (which sounds like you do not have them saved - and no you cannot get them now). I would focus on getting it functional with the latest iOS version first, then you can work on downgrading to older versions (if possible).

At this point it appears you just want to get it functioning again - thus, use redsn0w to put it into pwned DFU mode (you will know it is in DFU mode from redsn0w's status). Once you are in that DFU mode, perform a clean restore to 6.1.3 from iTunes. Once the restore has completed, you should have a functioning 3GS again.

FYI... (OS X) The default folder path used by redsn0w for hashes is: /Volumes/<HDD Name>/Users/<username>/Library/Application\\ Support/redsn0w/shsh/

Great question actually - I have not tested this, but speculation is no, since it may require true hardware, or a full VM environment, rather than just Windows API's. Can't hurt to give it a test though.

Great info @dh. For the OP - FYI redsn0w does not unlock - it is a jailbreak tool - two very different concepts.

Don't worry about the fetch in this case - just save them with TU and then use the Submit option in redsn0w to submit them to Cydia (you will need to know the ECID to submit the correct blobs).

It is simply a cosmetic issue with Cydia - they do not always show up, even though Cydia has them saved. Just be 100% certain you have saved them, and submitted them with redsn0w. Once you have done that, you can use redsn0w to verify Cydia has them, regardless of what appears on the top of the Cydia splash screen.

Put it into DFU mode, then perform a full restore through iTunes, that should address the error -1 issue.

The best approach to isolate the issue, is to: start with a clean restore (and not restore from backup), jailbrake, then install each tweak one at a time and test to verify no issues, then install the next tweak until you find either the tweak causing the issue, or the combination of tweaks causing the issue. Once you find that, you can work backwards to fix the issue.
