If the wife is in service, she should apply at Starbucks. Even with their issues lately, they always need another good reliable worker. They like moms and are very flexible, and most importantly, she only needs to average at least 20 hr/wk to get insurance(a must for a 2 year old). And not only is it a fun job,but we're coming up to that time of year when tippers get generous with those who make their high maintenance lattes. She can do their christmas shopping with the 30% emp. discount.
As for him, I would hesitate to tell him to cross. People don't forgive and they don't forget. I'm not condoning it, I just know it's true. Maybe we don't go to work to make friends, but I don't recommend courting enemies. Tell him to call the union hall for assistance, try workready, work under the table, call BECU for a loan, anything to avoid being labeled a scab for the rest of his career. Good Luck to them!

What do your religious beliefs have to do with my job? Since when is riding in on your judgemental high horse a christian thing to do? Oh wait... that is your guy's thing isn't it?

Security risk? Now you're really reaching...
Yes, we build planes, we are skilled, we work hard for our benefits. I'm not quite sure why you want to fly on a plane built by someone who is sick but out of sickleave. Where are these millions and why aren't they applying? Boeing has been hiring for a while now. And why do you care so much? How does my standing up for myself and those who will come after me affect you? Do you hate unions in general, or are you a Boeing manager lurking? People who cross the line, looking out only for themselves, those are the disloyal ones. Loyalty is coming back after 2 layoffs! Loyalty is protecting the rights of others, like others protected mine. Loyalty is walking the line.

Sometimes you have to strike today so that you can afford to pay the bills next year.

It should be better than Home Depot. When was the last time you flew on a Home Depot jet? How many Home Depot workers get taken out in an ambulance? A lot of permanent disability cases at Home Depot? Cancer? How's the divorce rate there? Do they alternate between working you to death and laying you off? Has anybody ever DIED working for Home Depot? What do you know about my job, what is enough compensation? People who whine that we got it so good, why aren't you working for Boeing? Couldn't get hired maybe?

No, the lump sum was what we got instead of a wage increase. One-time payments are cheaper than a raise that would amount to a lot more over the life of your career.

For me, this strike is about medical. The 1st time I worked for Boeing they paid me an incentive to pick Selections, now they want me to pay a monthly premium. Okay, fine, a lot of companies do that now. However, is it fair to tell me it will cost 27/mo in july and then turn around and double it to 53/mo two months later? I'm stuck til next july! I had comparable medical at Starbucks, and that was only a part-time job. Working for Boeing is hazardous to your health, I work with chemicals that are known to cause cancer, reproductive organ and brain damage. Carpal tunnel, and tendonitis are inevitable. The least they can do is not screw me on medical coverage!

Hey, if you need money, alot of Bellevue students need babysitters til their strike is over. Why didn't Gregoire try to stop that strike? Doesn't she care as much about education as she does about Big Business?

SOME people at Boeing make alot, but MORE people are making 15-16/hr, and when you are not "the average Boeing worker making 27/hr" it's not easy to save for a strike. I was lucky this time, I got called back a year and a half before contract end, and with all the mandatory overtime they forced me to do, had no problem saving 3 months take home in a separate account. With my savings, I'm good til after New Years. I feel bad for those who are expected to start out at 11.72 and be able to save for a strike. But believe this, when we do go back we'll only get a weekend off every 19 days and we'll easily make this money back whether we want to or not. Use this time to rest, get to know your families, and detox from all the cancer causing chemicals.

What math are you using? Have you read the contract or are you just spouting opinions on something you know nothing about? If you think you're getting the whole story from the news, you're an idiot. Everyone hears wage increase of 2.28 and you think it applies to everyone who works there but it doesn't. This is my 3rd time working for Boeing, I've been laid off twice, it's taken me 11 years to get a 5 year pin. Being hardworking and loyal at Boeing doesn't get you anything. You have to fight for everything..
