Big Government : Atlas is Shrugging...

I went tonight and brought a coworker. We both thought the movie was very well done and were not happy it ended as we wanted to keep going. The work done given the budget on the film was impressive and I bought the actors (Reardon was at times, meh). As I expected, the storyline was somewhat compressed but their choices worked for me. Bad note: there were 12 people in the cinema we chose. Possible good news, it was the early show on a Friday night and I can gladly say that South Florida had a number of choices. Will now have to be sure to attend again over the weekend and bring others.

Big Government : Obama Channels his Inner Mubarak

ja\gaugust, perhaps you should spend some keyboard time on the additional points made both by the article and the posters? When the dots are strung together and all connected would you not consider that corroborating evidence? If you feel compelled to ignore all the evidence, then move on. If you have a coherent defense for each one, let's hear it. I would however, be interested if there is ANY line that if Obama crossed it you would consider it valid for reasonable concern, a constitutional issue, or that you would not defend. Somehow I doubt it.

From what I read, illiteracy is not what is motivating their behavior, many can read quite well, are not all poor and uneducated and they know exactly what is in the Koran. Now on the women your point is made, as they get the acid treatment if they are so bold as to go to school, etc.

Big Journalism : Anchorage CBS Affiliate Caught on Voicemail Conspiring Against Alaska's GOP Senate Candidate

The type of people who would deliberately make up or ad lib in such as a way as to literally ruin people's lives, are low, filthy and cold. I am not even talking about the politicians they are working to run into the mud, though that applies too, I am talking about average citizens who may show up at a campaign event or Tea Party Rally. What do they see when they look in the mirror or do they remove them all from their homes? These are the kind of people who die lonely.

You really don't see it do you? The jobs will not EXIST if the value does not equal the cost. Also, teens are relevent in that they are not experienced and need to start somewhere to learn how to be a part of the workforce. If the pay scale is beyond what a business can withstand for unskilled labor, they will not bring in people to do it.

Mr Ferguson, a lot of words which when boiled down points out your view that Murdoch and everything "Fox" is racist and evil. Sad that it has been so overutilized that a scoff or yawn is all most of us can muster even for a rant of that magnitude. Hey bonus for you, I'll skip the so called rationalizations and platitudes.

Big Hollywood : Social Security Reform: The New Radicalism

I recognize the code words used by conservatives out of necessity. We listen for them along with as much straight talk as they are able to provide (along with a record). However, I have steeled myself to accept that the definitions have changed and I am now a racist, xenophobic, islamophobic, uncaring, unfeeling realist.

Agreed. The members spoke, the leadership acted. With a large organization I can see how the political arm may have run amok but they acted on it.

This is a good sign and an even better trend I believe: "....I am hopeful that this has shed some light on the fact that many groups (not just veteran-oriented) are facing similar troubles- say, like unions?" This is exactly what is happening. People want to provide their money, their energies, and their support in a more direct way. That is because they are paying attention. This applies to ignoring the party groups, the associations, the charities and loads of others. With the healthcare bill, was the AMA really considering doctors, was the AARP really considering seniors? No. When you have a national or international organization it takes on an often corrupt life of it's own completely divorced from those individuals who it claims to support or even it's true mission. So much of what is going on is quite positive and I hope with the information revolution, can become the new norm. Power needs to be left to individuals. When something is good, a lot of "individuals" will get behind it and provide the power. Sounds like I was speaking directly on free market capitalism :)

IMO, too many comments on the site of late appear rabid, blindly ideoligical or don't offer much depth to other readers. Is the ability to offer darkly humorous, critical one liners one of the main goals so you receive a thumbs up? Much of this thread is sad. The young man has an opinion and lays it out. It's his opinion and at minimum should provoke thought and thoughtful response. Yet many comments are "how dare you" or "who do you think you are" or "you should learn how to spell or you have no credibility". This last one by the way is ironic in that it emphasizes his point on nitpicking. Go for the thumbs down. I could care less, particularly if it's from someone who can't stomach a different opinion.
