I pay 98.00 per month out of my SS check plus 56.00 for the advantage plan. I read where the insurance cos. said they would reduce the employer premiums if they would make it mandatory for everyone to purchase insurance. I remember when they did that on car insurance. It was not long until premiums looked like Gores hockey stick. I also owned several businesses over the years and the employer matches the SS and medicare payments. People forget that SS was set up as a TRUST. Our fearless leaders saw all that money coming in and could not keep their hands off of it so they BORROWED it. Makes you wonder if SS would be in trouble if it was invested as was supposed to happen.
